nxevent

Just FYI, because probably no one knows about this tool :)

With nxevent you can send events to the server for further processing.
It can be useful for integration with other systems or in creating
various cron-based checks. For example, I can have some complicated
script which started by cron every hour to check something. If this
something is not OK, script can call nxevent to send appropriate event
to monitoring server, where this event will be processed in exactly same
way as all other events.
