Discovery

I'm still hoping someone could help me with Discovery. I've tried to
read the Doc and understand, but it isn't working. I've tried setting
up discovery using a Linux box as a Netxms agent. But it doesn't ever
seem to start. Any suggestions for how to setup a controlled discovery
process in a network?
