Hello,

I am just a technology intern set with the project of getting NetXMS working to monitor the company I'm interning with (a high school)'s network. I've tried my best to just power through the GUI options, and I can see that there is a lot of data being shown and my network is mostly (as far as I can tell) discovered, but I'm not sure what I can do with this data. I have ZERO programming experience, and I would like to know if there is any way I can make this program work without having that. It is not apparent from the user's manual whether the network admin (me) needs to know certain programming languages (Java? C? I have no knowledge of any). I can get a line graph to point to certain interfaces on a central router in my network that I KNOW has traffic going to and from it, but the graph does not show any traffic.

I appreciate any advice you can give me on this, as I'm thoroughly lost and not sure where to go next.

Thank you!

Hi!

You don't need any programming experience to configure NetXMS. It is advised however to have at least basic knowledge about SNMP and networking. You can configure NetXMS to collect data from your network devices via SNMP. Chater on data collection in manual may help you: http://wiki.netxms.org/wiki/UM:Data_Collection.

As for your specific question about line chart not showing data, please provide screenshots of your DCI configuration.

Best regards,
Victor

Hello Victor,

Attached please find my DCI configuration and line chart graph. I want to collect ANY data coming or going from any interface on this router. The second capture is of the line chart from inbound traffic on fa0/0 of that cisco router.

Thank you!

Hello,

I noticed I'm also getting this error message:

"15.03.2013 13:27:05   GHS-NETMON   Critical   SYS_DB_QUERY_FAILED   Database query failed (Query: INSERT INTO alarm_events (alarm_id,event_id,event_code,event_name,severity,source_object_id,event_timestamp,message) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?); Error: Duplicate entry '6155-41782' for key 'PRIMARY')"

Thanks,
jforbes
