What is the plan for IPV6 support in NetXMS?

Victor Kirhenshtein

I plan to add initial support for IPv6 topology later this year (most likely not before late Autumn). It should not be too hard, but still requires significant rework of server internals. So far IPv6 can be used for management console connection, and agent connection over IPv6 is the next easy to implement option.

Best regards,
Victor

Ok thanks for your information. Some people asked me why NetXMS still only supports IPV4.

So.... what's the status on IPv6?
It's rising all around me but NetXMS still doesn't seem to support it or did I miss an option in ./configure?

Victor Kirhenshtein

Hi,

we are gradually implementing IPv6 support under the hood. Management console and agents can communicate over IPv6 already, and there are internal changes to support both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses on objects. Final 2.0 release will fully support IPv6, and you will see IPv6 subnets in M3 or M4.

Victor

Awesome!
Thanks for the response

Fast forwarding to year 2020.
Any update about ipv6 after these six years?

Victor Kirhenshtein

IPv6 is supported by all components for many years already.

Victor
