Hey all,
I am new here. I am trying to install Netxms on a Windows machine, however it totally refuses to do so. It looks like it installs properly. When I try to open up NetxMs console and log in   using the localhost it gives the error invalid argument: connect error. I tried both with MySql and postgre sql. It looks like it sets up the data base and gets it running looking at the monitors of the sql programs. Also, another thing that is interesting is that, I can login using Legacy console. However Legacy Console, sets up pretty incomplete. I can not see any graphs, it only monitors wireless and Bluetooth cards. It wont let me create service or DCI, for DCI it doesnt have any default parameters and many problems I can not count. In short the only thing that is working in Legacy console is monitoring some cards, getting alerts, restarting the machine and shutting it down. If any of you can help me I would highly appreciate. Also let me add that I tracked the regular NetXMC console from cmd, it looks like it doesnt send any request or pull data or anything, it really doesnt do anything

Hi!

If legacy console can connect to the server it means that server and database is ok and problem is only with console. What Java version you have installed? Is there any messages in file %USERPROFILE%\.nxmc\data\.metadata\.log?

Best regards
Victor

I have version 7 update 55. It says Invalid argument: connect. I think I know the problem, I was told to attach the log file here, however it turns out I dont have one. I went to user/username/.nxms/data/metadata and it doesnt exist. I also search NetxMC folder directly under C:// for it, no file named .log exists.

It could be because Java 7 may try to use IPv6 for connection by default. Try to use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost or host name when connecting.

Best regards,

Could you try Java 6?

So I was able to set up everything on a virtual machine, using virtual box, so the problem is with my machine. I will format it as soon as possible, thanks !
