Agent unreachable and polled data

Hi everyone

We're busy looking at using NetXMS to monitor our infrastructure, which spans multiple locations. We are using the agent installed on various servers, and when connectivity between different sites goes down, polled data is missed.

Does the agent not store polled data while the link is down, and then transfer the data to the server when the link is back up? Is there any way to achieve this functionality? We'd prefer not to have to set up a copy of NetXMS at every site to work around this problem.

Thanks

Hello!

Unfortunatelly, there are no way to achieve this functionality without significant changes in system architecture. Although it is possible, and having possibility to collect data by agent even without server connectivity is very useful, I could not tell when we can implement this feature. But at some time it definitely will be implemented.

Victor

Challenge

Hi Victor

As a newbie have spent the last few months learning about the capability of NetXMS. It is clear you and your development team have spent much thought and effort on its functionality and stability. Very impressed and well done..and all the best for the future as the product matures.

During my review of Forum messages I came across this feedback regarding the need to provide a "store and forward" type model for the Agents. Is this functionality available by configuring a " subagent"?.

The reason I ask this is I have a number of desktops and servers that are not "on line' all the time (randomally hours or days off line)  and it would be great to know that the NetXMS Agent is capturing performance data while off line and be able to "push" this data to the NetXMS server when on line (ie not have the NetXMS server constantly polling for a non existant Node - given the random nature of the on-line/off line profile of the nodes I am monitoring I cannot use a defined polling schedule in the NetXMS server).

It would great if this functionality is available...Any comments appreciated. Chris

Hello!

It's in our wish list. I have some ideas of how to implement this, and will try to do it in one of next releases. Unfortunately, I cannot define precise time frame for implementing this feature right now.
