hello everybody im doing internship in a company, my first job is to choose a software for monitoring the network of this company. after searching, i found netxms.
i have installed netxms-1.0.13 server in Windows 7, and i am using mySQL. I have activated SNMP in a router and a switch, also i have configured the server with RunNetworkDiscovery=1, DiscoveryFilter=SNMP and the same DefaultCommunityString for all the component. I have restarted the server, and nothing happened (the restart status of "DiscoveryFilter" was still equql to "no"), no component was discovered, so if someone can help i will be so grateful

i like gui and there is a tool for that.
in the old console - there is "network discovery" in the control panel
in the java console - from the "configuration" menu there is "network discovery".

now...
when i started my way with this awsome software i have configured the network discovery to nodes using "active and passive" discovery.configured the default snmp community and added all the other snmp communities i have and that's it,it worked.
if you have a router, have you configured it to allow snmp queries ?
basicaly you have to configure all the non microsoft/linux {they can use agents} to allow snmp queries

have fun,
Lindeamon

hi,
what is active and passive discovery?
I have already configured netxms server using the "network discovery"
and i have configured SNMP in a cisco router and switch. the problem is that i want an automatic discovery with RunNetworkDiscovery=1, but it does not work,
and when i configure manually the IP adress, with the router it works and not with the switch
thank you for help

zarakichan

when i set the DefaultCommunityString and the DiscoveryFilter=SNMP their "restart" status doesn't turn to "yes" it remains "no"
even if i had restarted the the netxms.

Hi!

I suspect some configuration error. Could you please post screenshots of your network discovery configuration? Also, try to run server with debug level 5 and see what it reports in log regarding discovery.

Best regards,
Victor

Hi,
here it is my network discovery configuration.
and how can i run server with debug level 5 in windows 7 and where  can i found log reports

lindeamon

from what i see i can assume you have created a script called SNMP.
now...
if all you are asking for is to discover only the snmp enabled nodes in your network then you should select "automatically generated scripts..." and leave only the "....snmp support" checked.
if you want to use your own scripts due to complexity requierments for discovery then it is more complicated to explian.

Hi,
I have tried your suggestion lindeamon and it didn't work
I didn't create any script and all i want is to discover automatically  nodes using SNMP, and it didn't work
here it is my configuration RunNetworkDiscovery=1, DiscoveryFilter=SNMP, and  DefaultCommunityString=sitsfbt, i have also reduced intervals
but nothing happened, manually i can add nodes it works but not automatically!!!

hi,

i have made a screenshot of the right and simple config.
just open the old console and open the control panel and then open network discovery and follow the screenshot.
just to remind you that on the rest of the tabs you should not configure any thing unless you have another snmp community that you have to configure there.
stop and start the server {although generaly you do not have to do that but i do not know what is wrong with your server for now} and it should be fine

b.t.w - did you change any other configuration parameters regarding network discovery ?
