General Support / Out of space - CentOS and MySQL
July 17, 2017, 07:08:35 PM
Greetings,

I am out of disk space on the NetXMS CentOS volume; and it is not the MySQL logs.  Does anyone have ideas on what to check first?

Greetings,

The NetXMS service won't start for some reason on CentOS.  I ran nxdbmgr check, and had to repair 2 MySQL tables, and also it fixed 17k + errors.  Now nxdbmgr check is all good, no errors, but the NetXMS service will not start.  The agent service does start.

Yes I know, I need to upgrade - but haven't had the time to do it yet.

General Support / Out of disk space ... again
November 13, 2015, 07:45:04 PM
Greetings,

We are running v 1.2.17 on Linux/MySQL, and it is out of disk space, again.  This is happening every 2-3 months.  What can be done to purge (to take care of the immediate problem), and also limit the size of logs, events, maybe auto remove objects that are no longer online, etc.?  I'm getting really good at expanding Linux partitions, but it's getting old.

Thanks in advance for the help!

General Support / Invalid network mask - v 1.2.17
February 12, 2015, 12:44:46 AM
Greetings,

We are getting many of these alerts with version 1.2.17:

Invalid network mask 255.255.255.192 on interface "vlan1", should be 255.255.255.0

The /26 (255.255.255.192) is in fact the correct mask for this device; this particular node is a firewall that has VLAN's configured on a trusted port.

General Support / Not discovering all nodes
February 11, 2015, 06:50:18 PM
Greetings,

NetXMS 1.2.17 is not discovering all nodes, in 3 or 4 of our remote networks.  It discovered some nodes in those networks, but not all.  Is there a way to force a "re-discovery" of just a certain network?

Greetings,

What is the best way to change the threshold on how long it takes NetXMS to determine that a node is down?  Right now, it seems to be about 60 seconds system wide, which is perfect for most nodes.  But I have 50+ nodes that I would like to set the threshold to 5 minutes, before an alert is sent.

Currently running version 1.2.17.  Any info is appreciated!

General Support / Java console - exit code=13
October 31, 2014, 01:22:43 AM
Greetings all,

We are running NetXMS 1.2.14, and have had no major issues... until I did a java update on my laptop.  Now, I can't launch the NetXMS console, it comes up with "Java was started but returned exit code=13".

When I go to the java site to verify my java version, it says I'm running the latest version, and also I have no outdated versions installed.

Any help is appreciated!

Greetings,

Can someone explain how I can accomplish two things:

1) I am currently sending node down/up email notifications, which works great.  How can I add the number of hours/minutes/seconds that the node was actually down?  Of course, this would be based on when NetXMS saw the node go down and then come back up.

2) How can I trigger an email notification when a circuit is experiencing higher than normal latency - say over 75ms, for longer than 1 minute?

Any help is appreciated!

General Support / Out of memory NetXMS v1.2.5
February 02, 2013, 02:08:37 AM
Greetings,

NetXMS has been crashing with an out of memory condition on our CentOS server:

CentOS 6.3
Out of memory: Kill process 1852 (netxmsd) score 934 or sacrifice child
Killed process 1852, UID 0, (netxmsd) total-vm:8698304kB, anon-rss:3652072kB, file-rss:424kB

This virtual CentOS server has 4GB of RAM currently allocated - and we have 50 subnets, maybe 20 nodes on average per subnet.  NetXMS and MySQL db are the only things running on it.  4GB should be enough RAM I would think?

General Support / Host name changes - not updating
January 30, 2013, 10:53:41 PM
Greetings,

We have changed about 30 host names of devices on our network, but when I do a manual re-poll of a device configuration, I get this result:

[30.01.2013 12:44:05] **** Poll request sent to server ****
[30.01.2013 12:44:05] Poll request accepted
[30.01.2013 12:44:05] Starting configuration poll for node _GS-NewZotac
[30.01.2013 12:44:05] Checking node's capabilities...
[30.01.2013 12:44:05]    Checking NetXMS agent...
[30.01.2013 12:44:05]    Checking SNMP...
[30.01.2013 12:44:05]    SNMP agent is active (version 2c)
[30.01.2013 12:44:05]    System description changed to Hardware: x86 Family 6 Model 28 Stepping 10 AT/AT COMPATIBLE - Software: Windows 2000 Version 5.1 (Build 2600 Multiprocessor Free)
[30.01.2013 12:44:05]    System name changed to MP-EPV-FARMINGT
[30.01.2013 12:44:13] Capability check finished
[30.01.2013 12:44:13] Checking interface configuration...
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] Interface configuration check finished
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] Checking node name
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] Node name is OK
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] Finished configuration poll for node _GS-NewZotac
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] Node configuration was changed after poll
[30.01.2013 12:44:14] **** Poll completed successfully ****

The new name of this Windows XP machine is "MP-EPV-FARMINGT" (there is no DNS entry for it).  NetXMS detects the name change as seen above, but in the console it remains as the old name (in this instance, "_GS-NewZotac".

When can I expect to see the host name get updated in the console view?  Or can I expect to see the new name?

Thanks for the help,

General Support / Discovery issue - over 40 subnets
December 03, 2012, 08:10:36 PM
Greetings,

I have a situation where discovery has been working fine, on my first 40 subnets. I have been adding subnets 10 at a time to the discovery configuration.

On the last 10 subnets I added, discovery actually discovered some devices within the remote subnets, however, the routers themselves for those subnets, and also some other devices within the remote subnets were NOT discovered (or at least, not displayed).

I am using version 1.2.3.  Any help is appreciated!

Greetings,

I need to change the IP address of the Centos v6.x server running NetXMS.  After I change the address, I can't launch NetXMS - it complains that another instance of NetXMS under the old IP address has the MySQL database locked, and it aborts.

How can I clear out the old IP information/unlock the DB?

Any help is appreciated!

General Support / No Network Map
October 13, 2012, 01:30:17 AM
Greetings all,

Using the latest version 1.2.3.1 of the server app and Java console, I am unable to display a network map.  I have tried seeding from different devices on different subnets, trying both IP and Layer 2, etc., but I just get a blank white page, no map.  Any advice is appreciated!

General Support / Too many alerts
October 12, 2012, 06:46:02 PM
Greetings,

Just upgraded to v1.2.3.1 - so far, so good! My question: When the gateway router goes down for any given subnet on our WAN, I receive "node down" alerts for each device within that subnet (servers, printers, etc.).  Of course, those nodes are not really down, just temporarily unreachable. In this situation, all I really need (and want) to know is that the gateway router is down, and that is all.  And then of course, a second alert when the router comes back up.

What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Thanks,

-Kevin

General Support / Host polling - exclusion window
June 13, 2012, 04:11:41 AM
Greetings,

Is there a way to exclude a window of time during which hosts on specific subnets will not be polled?  For instance, I would like to not poll hosts between 6pm-7pm PST, because this is a time when many host machines are automatically restarted.

General Support / Host name display
June 07, 2012, 10:16:52 PM
Greetings,

We are running the latest v1.2.1, and I'm wondering if there is a way to truncate the host name that NetXMS finds using RDNS.  As it is now, we are seeing the FQDN (hostname.domain.com), and I would much prefer to just see the hostname on the console, in email alerts, etc.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

General Support / Manually adding nodes
June 01, 2012, 02:34:32 AM
Greetings,

On a new install of v1.1.9, I would like to clear the database of all information that was auto-discovered, and then start fresh by adding nodes manually.  I am guessing I can just delete/recreate the MySQL db and then re-initialize it to clear things out (or is there an easier way?), but I don't see an option under the tools menu to add a node manually - how can I manually enter nodes using their IP address?

Thanks for the help!
