Feature Requests / Re: Dashboard container

Currently you can put one dashboard under another, so you can create empty dashboards instead of containers. I agree that it looks a bit strange though. I see two possible solutions: a) add special object type "dashboard container"; or b) automatically configure empty dashboard with child dashboards to work in "slide show" mode showing all dashboards below in a cycle.

Best regards,
Victor

In my opinion solution a) is preferable: it is more homogeneous to the other containers. BTW having a slide show feature can be another additional nice feature to be implemented :)

To have it working properly "inside" and "outside", instead of putting the IP address (Connection|Server in the settings of the mobile console) you should use a FQDN resolved properly via DNS: from external network it has to resolve to the public IP and from internal network it has to resolve to the private IP.

This part should not be necessary if you don't have restriction in accessing your public IP address from inside you private net.

Feature Requests / Dashboard container
February 04, 2014, 12:38:13 PM
It would be nice to have the possibility to create containers for the dashboards like the container for the nodes or for templates (template group feature) to better organize dashboards when you have a lot of them.

Hi

I'd rather not put the netxms server in DMZ for security reasons, but I would love to use the mobile client outside our private network.

Any input on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

The mobile client uses port TCP 4701 to connect to the server. To get access you should NAT that port from the public IP address to the server in your internal network.
To have it working properly "inside" and "outside", instead of putting the IP address (Connection|Server in the settings of the mobile console) you should use a FQDN resolved properly via DNS: from external network it has to resolve to the public IP and from internal network it has to resolve to the private IP. This is the way I use it. Hope it helps.

Marco

If this URL points to valid image file (PNG, JPEG, or GIF), then it will be displayed instead of standard logo.

Is there a particular size to be observed?

General Support / Re: Removing a node from a template

Netxms is a fantastic piece of software, it still lacks some bells and whistles on the GUI. Especially for new users. This is just one example that confuse users. The minute you start doubting feedback from your users, you'll start loosing users.

The delete reference could just as easily be "delete nodes reference to this template". Just doesn't make sense. It also does not make sense why one should be able to delete a node physically from the template view...

Hi,
I have the impression that maybe you have misunderstood my reply. I'm not interested in doubting or not about your feedback; when you posted the question, I simply tried to give my contribution in helping you to solve the problem encountered. That's all!

General Support / Max, Avg and Min values in dashboard
January 26, 2014, 09:08:01 PM
Is there a way to remove the Max, Avg, and Min values in the line graphs of the dashboards? I like the new info but, in my opinion, there should be the possibility to select if activate or not. If you have a "complex" dashboard with a lot of graphs (like the one attached) the new info will increase the clutter (and doesn't show properly).

its not intuitive ...

For example, if I want to remove a group in active directory - I don't expect to be asked which persons I want to remove after right clicking and selecting "remove" on the group itself. Makes very little sense.

I guess it's just matter of convention :)
By the way the "Delete" command is coherent all around the software when you want to "phisically" delete something (a node, a DCI, a template, a dashboard and everything else).

Ah, I see. But from a users perspective I avoided clicking "Remove" as it would mean removing the template itself. It really needs to be updated to "remove node(s)" or something similar.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah but for that you have "Delete"  :P

Right clicking the template did not reveal any "unbind" selections. Unmanage was the closest, and that's not a valid choice for a template.

The way I approached it, was to investigate template properties hoping I could remove the bindings from there. Also tried to right click a node under a template for anything like "unbind from template". Even tried removing the node (delete) but that obviously removed the node entirely from netxms.

Right click on the template name (under "Templates" root) and select "Remove..." then you can choose the node(s) on which to operate, after that you will be prompted to select between "Remove DCIs from the node" or "Unbind DCIs from template" the first unbind from the template and removes the collected data from the node, the second unbinds from the template and leave a copy of them in the node (without losing the history already collected)

General Support / Re: nxapush through a proxy
December 20, 2013, 08:02:39 PM
Hi Victor,

I have an update: I upgraded my server to version 1.2.10 (it was on 1.2.9 on previous test) and everything seems to work properly now, even through proxy (using Windows agent, I have not yet tried on *nix, I'll try in the next days).

Thank you for your support and sorry for the false signal.

General Support / nxapush through a proxy
December 20, 2013, 01:28:05 PM
Hi,

I'm trying to use nxapush to push some data to a node. I'm able to use it with a node "directly" connected but I'm in trouble when the node is accessed through a proxy.
Is there any particular instruction to follow when a proxy is involved?

Best regards,
Marco

Hi,

you probably have a "Data collection configuration" tab already opened for that node.
