Announcements / Re: NetXMS 2.0-M3 released
April 16, 2015, 05:52:03 PM
Hi,

I upgraded my server today and fixed the ping agent.
It looks it is working when the client is in the same network.

but when the client is contacted over a proxy server (using zones) it doesn't work.

I've register a change request to use agent for DNS resolution for remote zones: https://dev.raden.solutions/issues/778. Should not be hard to implement.

Best regards,
Victor

The network discovery is working well over the proxy connection. (but without dns hostname)

Yes I confirm that the server isn't possible to resolve the Host name from the DNS.
It is the proxy agent that needs to resolve the host name. He is the only one that has access to the local LAN.

The only communication between the LAN with the netxms server in and the LAN with the DHCP agents in is the netxms Proxy agent.
There is no VPN or whatever between the different LAN'S. All the communication is over the netxms proxy (port 4700)

If you need more info let me know. Then I will make a design of the network setup.

Hi,

Is there a way to fix that problem?

Nobody with the same issue? :o

Hi,

The netxms server is contacting proxy agents over WAN.
The resolving of the DDNS hostname to IP is OK. When the IP on WAN is changing it will be updated in netxms.
That looks OK

But when the IP is changing from a client after the proxy in the local network it looks that the dns name isn't resolved to a IP.
It looks that the option "ResolveDNSToIPOnStatusPoll" isn't working when using a proxy agent.

General Support / Monitor PC over wan with dyn IP
December 18, 2014, 09:36:51 AM
Hi,

I have an issue with monitoring  a PC over wan.
When the pc is online all goes well.
But once the pc goes offline. Netxms shows the status of the pc offline. So far OK.
But when the PC goes back online. Netxms will never update the status.
The only way to update the status is a manual Configuration Poll. Even the manual status update doesn't work.

If I have a look in the log file in the client. After the host is back online. There are no new log events. So it looks that the server never tries to contact the client.

On the wan site of the pc the only port that is open is the netxms port 4700. ICMP is disabled.
Is it possible that when the host is offline. the server lost the connection with 4700. after that he tried to contact the host bij icmp end it isn't possible he never tries to contact the client.

Maybe it is also the problem in normal LAN when icmp is disabled on client side.

Running (1.2.17)

Hi,

When I want to create a new Object Tools I get an error "Cannot generate object tool ID: Database failure"

Configuration > Object Tools > Add New

Anyone with the same problem after update?

How to fix it?

I have seen that the request is moved to version 1.3  :o
Is there no work around ?

I did some tests with removing the Primary_ip and/or primary_name in the nodes table.
But when I do a configuration poll manualy. The old IP is back in the database.
So where did he gets that old data. When I do a ping on the proxy node to the client he answers with the right new IP.

Isn't it possible to do a DNS resolve only when there is no answer from the node.
So when the node is offline. he try first a dns resolve to be sure that the IP wasn't changed. So you will not have a lot of DNS requests.

Regrads.

Hi,

Nice to read your post....

I have just the same issue.

https://www.netxms.org/forum/general-support/when-proxy-node-goes-offline-gt-not-resored-untill-manualy-poll-configuration/msg13639/#msg13639
(When the host was offline he will get a new IP. And after a manual poll it is back OK)

So it looks the same as your  issue.
But with nodes in a zone it will not be fixed with manual configuration poll.

In my setup I have 10 nodes configured as proxy (with dyndns). There are 10 zones configured and each zone is sending the data to a proxy.

When the IP is changing from a client node in the zone by dhcp. The primary Ip address stays on the old IP. Also manual configuration poll doesn't solve the issue. The only way to fix it is to manual change the Primary Host name in the new IP. Then netxms will update the primary IP address.
For me is DNS working perfect on the local lan.

For me it looks there is a bug in the resolving from the primary host name to the primary ip address.

When a proxy node goes offline (pc) the connection will not restore untill I manualy start a configuration poll. So all hosts in the zone stays offline.
