Hi Victor,

you will have the file in 2 days.
i have noticed that in order to use "<" sign i need to enter "&lt" and in order for it to be parsed correctly the xml contains some java reference that i can not remember.do you think there is a java issue ?

General Support / Re: Agent's Configuration
January 15, 2013, 01:29:52 PM
Hi Victor,

i saw the file and i am familiar with the policy file locations.
is there any chance to create a tool or something that will check the whole config and report if there are errors ? a tool that will display the whole configuration of the agent ?
another question is, does the agent actively scans for policy changes and apply them or do i still have to manually restart the agent after each change/addition to the policy ?

General Support / Agent's Configuration
January 13, 2013, 01:45:42 PM
hi,

i have configured a general policy which enables watchdog but when i edit the configuration file from the console i do not see the parameter, why is that ?
is there or should be created a way to see that the configuration works ?

General Support / Legacy Console
January 13, 2013, 01:42:46 PM
hi,

i have noticed that the legacy console is deprecated, does that mean that all the functionality is implemented in the java console ?
if so, i have a few questions:
1. where do i edit the global agent configuration that the agent downloads when it is configured to download from server at startup ?
2. syslog editor: i have noticed that "save" button is grayed out even when i change the configuration.i have not tested the gui section.

General Support / Agents
January 10, 2013, 09:59:00 PM
hi,

i have noticed that after a power outage or unexpected shutdown the server can not communicate with the agents although they are running and only restart to the agent's service solves the problem.
i have to mention that i have installed the agents with the "download agent configuration file from server upon startup" and there is no configuration configured.
i also need to mention that the agents got started but the server not so maybe lack of communication to server stall them.
will enabling the watchdog solve this problem ? does it checks to see if the server is up and the agent is communicating with it ?

hi victor,

i have managed to solve the problem. apparently i had to use both new and old consoles.
i have used the new console to create the xml structure which represented "<" and ">" as &lt &gt and the old console to delete everything else.
what i did not know is that i have to leave the class='java......." that the new console created.

hi victor,

how do i represent < in reg exp ?
i want to match: xxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx <50000> xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
where <50000> is a string.
i have managed to do this with 50000 but i need to do this as <50000>

hi victor,

now i am starting to remember. i asked some questions before regarding event log monitor and this brings up everything.
is there any way to make things more simpler ? meaning that you develop a window/utility/something that will allow me to boost up my productivity ?
as always, can't get enough of your fine work.

hi victor,

are there any variables to use with syslog ?
i have red the explanation but i could not find how to take the message that came with the syslog event and transfer it to the event message of netxms after parsing and reducing what i do not need out of it.
