hi,

i have enabled the syslog daemon and i am receiving log that i can see in the syslog monitor but now i want to turn them into alarms, how do i do that ?
what are the syslog parameters ? are they like snmp varbinds ?
how do i edit the message to display only parts of it ?

are there any differences between the open source edition that we all use to the commercial one other then the licensing mechanism ?
it will be too sad to see awesome application destroy itself like zenoss and like by leaving half functional application to the community and the best for commercial.

the snmpget adds the .0 at the end and this is what you should add to the snmp of the dci.
here is a link to a template i wrote in which you can see when i had to use .1 or .3 instead of .0

there is a cool freeware tool from manageengine called snmp mib broswer in which you can load mib files, query the node according to it and see if you need to add the .0 .1 or anything else.

thank you for the quick replay.few questions:
1. do i need th 64bit client or the 32 bit ?
2. can you give me an example for the *Oracle you mentioned ?
3. the wiki pages indicate that for monitoring oracle the agent looks for a file with xml suffix and when i deploy it via policy the file does not end with .xml, what is the difference between monitoring 1 DB and more then 1 DB ?

b.t.w - the properties of the policy are a little bit blur and misunderstood, maybe you should revise the name of the property, for ex:"agent configuration" instead of "agent file" so that one will understand that the agent configuration is supposed to be written there.

hi,

i have installed the new version 1.2.4 with the corresponding agent and when i try to load the oracle subagent i get the following error:
"DB Library: unable to load database module "oracle.ddr": the specified module could not be found"
now,
i have installed the agent on win2k8r2 sp1 and i can see the oracle.nsm file.
i have created an xml file like the wiki tells me to do and i named it oracle.xml.
what is the problem ?
b.t.w - how can i use policies to deploy such xml file ? does the agent look for a file.xml {this what the wiki pages said} to load oracle subagent ?

i was already aware to some of the things you wrote and i appreciate the extra experience you have added.
i have already opened in the past a feature request to enable auto reloading of the agent when new policies or changes to them occure.

hi,

i am shutting down my pc every night thus i have to reopen my console every morning.
i have configured the sections of the console to show me the object details at the top and i always show the details of the netxms server.
when i open the console i want it to show the details of the server automatically instead of blank. i want it to remember the position of the object tree and the node i currently selecting.
