you can define the same server with 2 different ip.
you have to open the tcp port and configure the nat to redirect it to the netxms server.
here is the thing...
since the laptop is roaming from one network to another and as i mentioned before you have to redirect nat requests which i believe will be impossible since the networks the laptop will connect to are not for you to manage i think that the communication to server will be initiated by the agent and i think that pulling info without this will not work

can you elaborate on the subject ?
what do you mean by server configuration ?
in the agent you can configure who is the master server which can do anything with the agent, who is the server that can receive events only and etc.

hi,

if your laptop have a network connectivity to the netxms server you can use dynamic dns and configure the node name/ip in the server according to it

General Support / Creating events & snmp trpas
July 11, 2012, 02:32:26 PM
hi victor,

i do not know how everybody else are using netxms in terms of creating snmp traps and events but what i am trying to do is to create kind of management packs.
i have already opened a feature request to have a tool that will convert mib files to snmp and events.
in the mean while i looking for a easier way to do things and i have discovered that exported things are saved in a xml format and i can convert csv to xml and this is much easier.
what i am afraid of is that i have noticed that when i create snmp or event through the wizard it assign an id and i wanted to ask if i can select my own id to start with and everything will work fine ?

hi,

recently i have moved to run a network which someone else built and netxms found a bunch of nodes and their ip's but no ping could ever made.
after checking i found something called "live link" which is a feature of broadcom smart suite and it can be configured when creating teaming.
maybe this happened to you too

hi tony,

it depends....
1. which operating system is your strongest one ?
2. what is the database of your choice ?
3. will it be a production installation and you will rely on it heavily ?

i am a windows guy and as much as i love operating system and linux i find windows to be much easier from all aspects but here is the thing...
i have installed netxms at work under centos and postgre sql and they run fine.

looking from the netxms point of view...
1. in linux you have to compile the server and agent and some people find it tedious.
2. i have not installed the web server yet but it looks a little bit complicated in linux.
3. other then the above, the rest of the configurations and definitions are the same

here is a link to a poll i have started some time ago and you can see what netxms users prefer
https://www.netxms.org/forum/general-support/netxms-os-platform/

hope this helps you solve the puzzle

hi victor,

i found the post describing what i expected.
https://www.netxms.org/forum/configuration/snmp-configuration-1408/
as you can see i expected to see snmp oid but instead i got the varbind value that was positioned first which in this case is a string describing the date and time the blade created the alarm.
if you still want me to send you screenshots i will

hi victor,

in the past you said that i have to configure the snmp traps with varbinds according to order they are sent but i have to configure the event related to the trap starting with %2 since the %1 is the oid {i will look for the topic later} but now i am using version 1.2.1 and i have configured both event and snmp trap and the 1st varbind was represented as %1.
did you change something ?
i must indicate that the netapp traps and events that i have created and that are posted in the forum works fine and they seem to contradict with what i wrote above.
