1. you can go into "general support" and download the template we have been sharing.
2. you need to configure your equipment to send snmp traps and you need to create traps mappings and events.

1. db/listner - install an agent and create dci that monitors service state.
2. alertlogs - you need to create an xml file {use the manual} that checks for the word error on the log file you want and send an event to the management server.on the server you need to create an event {use the manual} and an event processing rule.

those are the guide line for you to start working.

hi,

on the PC you have installed netxms, you do not have to install/activate snmp since an agent is installed with the server.
netxms queries the nodes it monitors from snmpv1-v3 until it finds a match.

Hello All,

I am a windows sys admin but i always loved operating systems.
before i discovered NetXMS i have used OpenSUSE as my laptop OS just not to forget how to use Linux but when i came across NetXMS i have decided to install it both on windows and linux.
Now, I am facing a question to which i could not find a satisfying answer saying, which linux distro is best for enterprise and what others are commonly using in the IT industry for software like NetXMS or should i stick with windows.

hi victor,

the whole thing is too risky.
i have exported everything i could using the old console and what i could not export i am going to leave in the exported file.
in the new server i will open the DB and copy/paste the values,it seems more safe this way.
we have to have a normal and easy way to export everything we have created.

i have came accross var_name called "ServerID" in the config table.
when it is created ? what will happen if i leave it as is from the backed up server ? what will happen if i change it ?

if i leave the defaults created by the software and only what i want it will be ok ?
won't it destroy the indexing and the "id's" and etc. that have been created automatically ?

what do you meen by "cleared" ? everything is deleted or just customized info ?
what will happen if the only info i left is the info i have created meening i have cleared all the info that the setup and the program creates.
wanted to give you an example. lets say that i have cleared everything in the event_policy table leaving only the events i created,when i do an import it will delete the default rows created by the system and leave only what was imported ?
