hi,

basically if the a node has 1 net card and it is down the node is considered down since no ping can be accepted.

Feature Requests / Column Selection
November 30, 2011, 10:15:20 AM
hi,

it will be great if we have had the choice to select columns ex. "template name" in the "last value" tab so one will able to know to which template a dci is belong or a column of "event name" in the alarm browser.

General Support / Threshold
November 28, 2011, 03:41:32 PM
hi,

i have created a dci for disck space and using a transformation script i display the value as XX GB.
i am trying to create a threshold to pop an alarm when disk space is less or equal 0.5GB , i have to mention that i have changed the "Data Type" to string in order to be able to display as "XX GB".

Hi all,

I have attached a xml file containing the events and their correlated snmp traps of the netapp filer.i have taken the info from data on tap 7.2.6.1.
i have not exported nor created event processing rules with correlation between events since it is impossible to export them so as for now everyone is for himself.

1. of course you need to open ports on both sides if your firewall blocks outgoing ports never the less there is a document on the website describing the ports needed to be open.
2. there are a few ways to show the agent.
    1. to enter it manually by creating a node.
    2. run the network discovery and enter the range of ip addresses.
    3. there is a feature on the agent called "registrar server" and currently i do not remember if it is configured while installing the agent or by editing the agent service {run: <netxms program dir>\bin\nxagent.exe -help to see the features}.

regarding solarwinds,i have used only lan surveyor so i am not quite familiar with the rest of the family products so if you post the name of the program i will be able to compare it to netxms.
i can tell you that  this is an awesome product and in my line of work i integrate hp openview systems so clearly i do a comparison all the time and in my private network i use this program.

hi,

netxms agents and servers are working both ways.
on one hand there are DCI's which are data collection and they pull from the agents and on the other hand there are events that are displayed on the server console and they are pushed from the agents.

hope this answers your questions,

hi rick4,

here are couple of things u can try:
1. look at the event viewer for the reason for the failure
2. try to run it from console in debug mode 9 and without the "-d" option and it will give you some useful output.
3. check to see whether you are trying to run the service as a different user then the local system and maybe there is a need for password.

hi tivanni,

there is a way to do that if you have the java console and not the old console.
in the java console, in tools or in configuration (i am not in front of the consol right now) there suppose to be event log and when you open it there is an icon of a disk and there you can choose the desired parameters.

good luck,

General Support / Re: SNMP_UNMATCHED_TRAP issue
November 23, 2011, 05:05:48 PM
hi DanG,

you can use the snmp trap log in the old console and in the column "Trap OID" you will find the OID you should enter in the trap mapping.
the var binds in the trap mapping configuration are according to the trap sent (ex. in netapp when volume is offline varbind 1 in position 1 will give the trap data).
in the event configuration in case the event is relating to snmp trap you should write the varbinds from %2 meaning trap varbind #1 will be event %2 due to the fact that in case of snmp traps %1 is always the trap OID.

maybe this will help you solve ypur problem
