General Support / Re: Theoretical Capacity

It appears it is very similar, but it does answer my question.  Tried searching but that post didn't show in the results.  Thanks for the link!

General Support / Theoretical Capacity

Curious as to how many nodes the system can handle.  We monitor over 500 locations with at least 100 nodes per location.  Some more, some less.  Is NetXMS capable of handling this amount?

Good.  One last question.  Our networks consist of devices that do not have the ability of installing an agent on them.  We currently use SNMP to monitor them.  If I set a proxy on that network, will it poll SNMP and use that data or does the agent have to be installed in order for the proxy to work?

Right now I am trying to determine the parameters with which I can operate NetXMS, or rather it's limitations.  We monitor several hundred subnets, and most of them have the same internal IP scheme.  There is a firewall which has different public IP's.  What I need to be able to do is to separate each location into it's own zone with it's subnet underneath it.  I need to be able to have alerts set for each zone so I know when there are issues from each location.  I hope that makes sense.  Here is a sample layout:

Zone 1
    192.168.1.0/24
Zone 2
    192.168.1.0/24
Zone 3
    192.168.1.0/24

And so on.  Not all have the same subnet, but a good portion of them do.

So does this work with my zones I have created?  I have a zone for each subnet.  Using the proxy agent, will those other nodes show up under that zone?

One last thing to add to this.  I have assigned my AD account with admin group membership.  I even set my account with full access.  I can indeed get to everything in the menu.  however, the object browser does not show anything.  Nothing.  It's completely blank.  Is there something I missed?

Woohoo!!  Finally got it working!  Thanks for the response as that got me pointed in the right direction.

Ok, I set those per your post, still not seeing anything.  Are my domain users supposed to show up in the user manager?  If I am supposed to add them in, how do I select AD authentication?  Still trying to figure out how to know this is working.  I should also note that I started the server in debug mode (-D9) and there are no errors for ldap.  Of course there is nothing there for anything ldap.  It's like it's not even trying to connect.  I know openldap is running: Started LSB: OpenLDAP standalone server (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol).

No firewall.  Attached is my config.

So basically, I can set up an additional server at one other location, install the agent and point it's config back to the main server, correct?  Then details from that server are then forwarded back to the master?  Making sure I understand how this works.  Does the remote server then show up in the object panel?

General Support / Distributed Monitoring available?
March 31, 2017, 07:17:12 PM
I've read some posts about this, but they are almost 3 years old.  We have 3 locations that I want to monitor.  Do I put a server at each location and then have them report back to the "master" server?  If so, what is the configuration to accomplish this?  Is ther something in the docs that show how to configure a multi-site monitoring system?

General Support / Trying to get LDAP to work with AD
March 31, 2017, 05:05:50 PM
Not sure if I understand fully what this is supposed to accomplish.  My understanding is that it will add users from my AD domain into Netxms, correct?  I have put everything into the settings according to the docs, but I never see my users populate.  I greped my log files and see no errors.  Just wondering if I am looking at this correctly or not.

General Support / Re: User Views Configurations

I figured it out by finding another post in the General section.

I finally got it to work, however it is only sending me a couple of alerts for nodes down even though there are several due to machines being turned off at night (desktops).  Is there a configuration somewhere that I have to specify per node whether to send alerts or is there a global for this?

General Support / User Views Configurations
March 30, 2017, 10:38:58 PM
I am trying to figure out how to create a user account so that the user can only see the nodes associated with their account.  No changes can be made, strictly for performance viewing.  Short of adding permissions one by one to see the results, are there any pointers for doing this?  I only want them to see the nodes, nothing else.  No dashboard, no business policies, etc.
