General Support / Transformation not working
« on: May 30, 2008, 01:04:16 pm »

net.interface.bytesin(65539)   :   Incoming traffic , this value is in bytes
net.interface.speed(LAN)        :   Total interface speed,  this number is in bytes (converted it from bits to bytes successfully)

I want the incoming traffic DCI to display the network load procentually instead of showing the bytes.

The transformation on incoming traffic DCI is as followed:
$1 / GetDCIValue($node, FindDCIByName($node, "Net.Interface.Speed(LAN)")) * 100

This transformation doesn't work, it just gives me an output of "0"

What am I doing wrong?

General Support / Smart status problem
« on: May 29, 2008, 09:23:38 am »
On all the workstations I am monitoring this parameter is being read out properly, however on two of my servers this parameter just wont work properly.

I'm sure I have the right HDD ID but it never polls (timestamp stays at 1970)

This is happening on both an x86 and an x64 windows server 2003 server.

On all the machines that I am monitoring, startup times are quite long

Yesterday I found out that the NetXMS agent is causing this problem, basically the agent service is started but it immediately crashes, after some time it starts up again and everything is fine. The readouts are also fine.

This problem is causing a two minute delay (or longer) on boot times for some of my more slower machines  >:(

I am using version 0.2.21, I haven't yet tested on X64 machines but most likely the problem occurs there as well. So far I have only tested windows XP machines for this problem, I will test vista machines as well if you need that infromation.

Config file:

Code: [Select]
# NetXMS agent configuration file
# Created by agent installer at Tue May 13 14:14:16 2008

MasterServers = [censored]
LogFile = {syslog}
FileStore = C:\NetXMS\var
SubAgent = winperf.nsm

Here are all the syslog reports (not running an english OS so I translated some things)

1st one
Code: [Select]
Type of event: Information
Source of event: NetXMS Win32 Agent
Category of event: None
Event-ID: 3
Date 28-5-2008
Time: 9:04:57
User: none
Computer: Censored
Subagent "WINNT.NSM" loaded successfully

Code: [Select]
Type of event: error
Source of event: Service Control Manager
Category of event: None
event-ID: 7022
Date: 28-5-2008
Time: 9:06:32
User: none
Computer: [censored]

The NeTXMS agent-service has crashed at startup.

20 Second after that 5 other syslog events regarding the agent are created with the following descriptions:

Code: [Select]
Counter set B is empty, collector thread for that set will not start
Code: [Select]
Subagent "winperf.nsm" loaded successfully
Code: [Select]
Counter set C is empty, collector thread for that set will not start
Code: [Select]
Listening on socket
7th (23 seconds after error or so):
Code: [Select]
NetXMS Agent started
This is a very big problem as you can understand, if you need any other info please ask.

General Support / Group unknown
« on: May 26, 2008, 12:07:34 pm »
One of the groups in my object viewer has the "unknown" status symbol, I can't seem to figure out why this is.

It's reachable by NetXMS, status polling is enabled, none of the checks are giving me any problems.

Polling the status manually doesn't change the status either

General Support / NetXMS server queues?
« on: May 22, 2008, 11:33:21 am »
I was just checking the queues over the last eight hours and I still feel that there are a lot of peaks  :( Is this going to cause a problem if it gets worse?

General Support / Page file input/output rates
« on: May 22, 2008, 10:03:20 am »

Is it possible to monitor the page file input/output rates with the NetXMS agent?
See this link for more information:

Feature Requests / Process list extra information
« on: May 22, 2008, 09:45:49 am »
Would it be possible to put another tab in the process list that displays the amount of ram individual processes are using ?

Would be really useful :)

General Support / Alerts not being made for a single node
« on: May 21, 2008, 10:11:36 am »
This is driving me nuts :)

I have one single node where this problem is occuring and I can't seem to find out what the problem is.

It's a printer with SNMP support, I am reading out the: toner, fuser, drum and belt values from SNMP and I have set appropriate thresholds for them.

But, there are no alerts being made. This is understandable for some of these DCI'S because they "string" datatypes meaning I can't put thresholds on them as far as I know.

I've tested the policy one a completely different node and it gets triggered there without a problem.

I really don't know what I could have forgotten, all my other thresholds for SNMP nodes are working properly.

General Support / Failed to load template object
« on: May 15, 2008, 10:24:36 am »
I keep seeing this error in my log file:

Failed to load template object with id 412 from database

How do I find out which object this is? I can't find it manually  :(

General Support / Can't get netXMS agent parameter list
« on: May 13, 2008, 01:52:02 pm »
A pretty simple problem this time( at least I hope:) )

1)I right click in the data collection screen
2)I select the NetXMS agent as origin
3)I press select and all I see is a white screen instead of all the possible paramaters.

When I manually put in the parameter the data I get back is correct  :)

It's just this simple problem  :(

I've had netxms running unattended for around 4-5 days and it crashed, it didn't collect any data after this occured  :(

The logfile shows the same problem as from before

Code: [Select]
[11-May-2008 17:32:46] Thread "Item Poller" does not respond to watchdog thread
[11-May-2008 17:34:06] Thread "Poll Manager" does not respond to watchdog thread
[11-May-2008 17:34:26] Thread "Syncer Thread" does not respond to watchdog thread

However, this time there were no substantial queues, to prove this here's a graph of all the pollers.

Yellow: Status poller queue
Blue:    Data collector queue
Purple: Config poller queue
Light blue: Database writer queue
Green: Average time to queue dci's

When I look at the entire graph over 4 days I see that the database writer can get pretty high from time to time, just for a moment, but still.

Here's a graph over 4 days, same colour codes apply.

General Support / Agent configuration manager
« on: May 09, 2008, 05:57:40 pm »

I've been trying to find out what this feature does, but I can't seem to find out exactly what it does.

I'm not supposed to manually copy the content of my created config to the nodes running th agent am I?

Is there perhaps any way to copy the config to one of the packages in the package monitor?

Feature Requests / Receiving email in netxms
« on: May 09, 2008, 09:37:57 am »
There are a lot of devices that do not support SNMP, however a lot of them
are capable of sending an email.

It would be great if netxms would be capable to receive these emails, so that I can
run a policy on the subject line.

Just a thought :)

General Support / Predefined graph names do not match window names
« on: May 08, 2008, 04:05:31 pm »
I open a predefined graph named " ServerBLABLA - CPU - LOAD" yet the window title gets a name from a different predefined graph "SERVERBLABLA - HDD - FREE SPACE" for example.

The data in the predefined graph however is correct.

This is a consistent problem which is happening every time I try it, and with every predefined graph I have.
If it's not clear what I mean I'll add a screenshot.

General Support / Alarm viewer issues /bug?
« on: May 08, 2008, 02:08:25 pm »
Weird problem, can't seem to find out why this is happening.

On some of my workstations that connect to the netxms server with the alarm viewer, there are some problems with the icons (excelemation marks etc.) , they simply do not show up?

And then again on some other systems, I have no problems with the alarm viewer.

Here's an example of this problem:

And here's a screenshot of a workstation where it is working properly:

Thanks in advance
