Dear NetXMS community,

it is high time to get to know better how you use NetXMS and what changes should we (or should not!) go for.
Please, answer this questionnaire — we'd really appreciate your input.

Announcements / RPM repository
October 22, 2022, 11:03:32 PM
Hello!

Since latest release (4.2.395) we are releasing RPMs as well.
Right now we released packages for *EL (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS8, etc.), Fedora packages will follow.

Repository location: https://packages.netxms.org/epol/
Repository configuration file: https://packages.netxms.org/epel/netxms.repo

Simplest way to install: dnf config-manager --add-repo https://packages.netxms.org/epel/netxms.repo

All packages are build for both amd64 and aarm64.

There are no external dependencies except netxms-agent-mqtt, which requires EPEL repo to be enabled.

Hello, dear NetXMSers!

It's that moment when we ask something from you. Please, tell more people just about how powerful and flexible NetXMS system is and leave your review (big or small — anything counts) on Trustpilot and G2.

We hope it's not much and we also hope you can do it with pleasure, as NetXMS really deserves it!
>>> Stay cool and thank you so much in advance.

Sincerely,
Team NetXMS

As some of you already noticed – our signing key for deb repository is expired.
Normally we update the key and ship updated version of the netxms-release package, which transparently install correct version into trusted keys. This time we missed it and now most of you have expired key, which prevent further upgrades.

Error looks something like this:
...
Err:4 http://packages.netxms.org/debian bullseye InRelease
The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG 179C0A80CDFADDB1 NetXMS Automatic Signing Key <[email protected]>
Reading package lists... Done
W: GPG error: http://packages.netxms.org/debian bullseye InRelease: The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG 179C0A80CDFADDB1 NetXMS Automatic Signing Key <[email protected]>
E: The repository 'http://packages.netxms.org/debian bullseye InRelease' is not signed.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.

How to fix it:

1) If source and key was added by "netxms-release" package (recommended way), it's simple:

curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -O https://packages.netxms.org/netxms-release_1.10_all.deb
dpkg -i netxms-release_1.10_all.deb
apt update

2) If key was manually added to trusted.gpg.d

curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -o /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/netxms-keyring.gpg https://packages.netxms.org/netxms-keyring.gpg # adjust file location
apt update

I highly recommend you to migrate to netxms-release package.

3) If key was added with "apt-key add" command

apt-key del 179C0A80CDFADDB11 # repease until apt-key list shows no key
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://packages.netxms.org/netxms.gpg | apt-key add -

Again, I highly recommend you to migrate to netxms-release package.

Hello.

Couple of days ago signing key expired on packages.netxms.org. I've renewed the key, but it have to be updated manually.

If keys was installed by package netxms-release (suggested way as future updates will be handled automatically):

wget https://packages.netxms.org/netxms-release-latest.deb
dpkg -i netxms-release-latest.deb

If key was installed with apt-key:

apt-key del 179C0A80CDFADDB1
wget -O - https://packages.netxms.org/netxms.gpg | apt-key add -

Hello.

Today we incidentally pushed pre-release build from 3.0 branch to a stable repository for Ubuntu Xenial and Bionic (amd64 only) and this version was available for couple of hours. We are really sorry for this mistake.

Repository is rolled back.

If you upgraded your system, you now have two options - continue to use v3 (which is not yet released as stable, but quite a lot of our customers use it in production environment already) or revert to pre-upgrade backup.

If you'll decide to use v3, management console is available here:

Hello.

Version 2.0 is now considered new "stable" and pushed into "main" section of the repository, for both Debian (Jessie / Wheezy) and Ubuntu (Trusty LTS).

Package netxms-release is updated as well (and pushed into all repos), to reflect URL changes for Ubuntu users.

If repository was added manually, verify that you are using correct one for your system.

Debian Jessie (8):
deb http://packages.netxms.org/debian jessie main

Debian Wheezy (7):
deb http://packages.netxms.org/debian wheezy main

Ubuntu Trusty (14 LTS):
deb http://packages.netxms.org/ubuntu trusty main

Hello.

Starting from version 2.0-M3 we have changed build process and structure of deb packages.
Direct upgrade from any previous version of the package should be possible (and was tested in few test environments) but I recommend to purge old version first.

WARNING: backup configuration files and content of /usr/share/netxms, especially if you have any custom images in image library.

New packages:

  • netxms-base – common package
  • netxms-agent – agent, require base
  • netxms-client – command line tools (nxpush, nxevent, nxsms, nxalarm)
  • netxms-server – server package, require base, agent and ONE of DB drivers
  • netxms-dbdrv-pgsql – driver for PosgreSQL
  • netxms-dbdrv-mysql – driver for MySQL
  • netxms-dbdrv-oracle – driver for Oracle
  • netxms-dbdrv-sqlite3 – driver for Sqlite3
  • netxms-dbdrv-odbc – driver for unixODBC/FreeTDS

Server depends on one of DB drivers, by default its sqlite3.
For example:
root@debian-7:~# apt-get install netxms-server
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  netxms-agent netxms-base netxms-dbdrv-sqlite3

However, if specific driver is installed with server, default (sqlite) will be ignored:
root@debian-7:~# apt-get install netxms-server netxms-dbdrv-pgsql
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libpq5 netxms-agent netxms-base

MAJOR CHANGE: default data directory for both agent and server changed to /var/lib/netxms.
If you have any custom content in /usr/share/netxms/ (most likely in images/, if you use image library) – move it to new location.

ORACLE SPECIFIC:

Oracle driver require manual installation of either Instant Client, or full Oracle Client.
Code was built with instantclient 11.2, located in /opt/instantclient_11_2
If libclntsh.so.11.1 is located somewhere else, additional library search path should be set ld.so.conf

Right now only amd64 packages are published, i386 will be available in next couple of days.

Announcements / New Debian repository
April 15, 2015, 05:11:35 AM
Hello.

Out repository now migrated to http://packages.netxms.org/.
Unlike old one, all packages are signed and older versions of each package available as well.

Detailed setup instructions available on this Wiki page: https://wiki.netxms.org/wiki/Using_APT_Repository

Packages for lenny and squeeze are migrated as well, but unmaintained – new NetXMS versions are built only for wheezy.

Announcements / NxShell
January 25, 2013, 01:36:42 PM
Hello.

After couple of requests we made a  small tool to help automate operations, which are currently available only thru user interface or java api. In essence, it's wrapper around Jython (Java implementation of Python) and NetXMS API, with some glue in between to make it easier to use.

More details in our Wiki: http://wiki.netxms.org/wiki/Using_nxshell_to_automate_bulk_operations
