General Support / Unknown error
December 24, 2020, 11:53:12 AM
Hi all,

Since updating to 3.6.300 (Windows x64 server) we'vw been getting the following two errors repeatedly:

Script (EPP::3) execution error: Error 11 in line 3: Function not found
Script (EPP::5) execution error: Error 11 in line 3: Function not found

The event name is SYS_SCRIPT_ERROR.

Any ideas on where I start looking?

General Support / Unmanage setting cleared
November 12, 2018, 04:03:08 PM
Hi,

Unmanage settings on interfaces keeps being cleared by something and I have to set them again. It does not happen to all interfaces at the same time, however sooner or later they all seem to get cleared/set back to managed.
Has anyone seen this behaviour and do you know how to stop so that unmanaged interfaces stay unmanaged?

It would be nice to be able to right click on an alrm in the alarm browser and have the option of moving the focus to the object in the Object Browser tree. We have a lot of zoned objects behind NAT which can, and often do, have the same private IPv4 address and unless we name them all uniquely it is not immediately obvious which network and containe they are from.

General Support / Database problems
September 05, 2014, 09:42:29 AM
Hi,

Server Platform:
   Netxms 1.2.16
   Database: MySQL
   OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

I've had some data problems since upgrading to 1.2.16 and I've had to delete some nodes and rebuild them to get around broken data. In the server system logs I'm getting lots of errors from NetXMS Core such as these:

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO idata_12 (item_id,idata_timestamp,idata_value) VALUES (?,?,?)"): Table '.\netxms\idata_12' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

I've no idea where to start on this, any help would be appreciated.

David

General Support / Plagued with DCI collection errors
February 20, 2014, 04:14:08 PM
Hi,

Since upgrading to 1.2.12 we have been getting lots of DCI collection errors in the NetXMS Console which we never got with 1.2.11. A dialogue is thrown up titled "Multiple problems have occurred", below the title it says "Cannot get DCI values for node XXXXXXX. Software caused connection abort: socket write error".

The console platform is Windows 7 (64bit)
The server platform is Windows 2008 R2

A restart of the console seems to cure the problem for a few hours.

General Support / Time/Date periods form graphs
September 12, 2012, 06:04:43 PM
Hi,

Is it possible to get a time/date period for graphs other than the preset ones ?
I want to use NetXMS to record server storage used over time, for future planning purposes, and could do with 2,3,4 and 5 year intervals in addition to the existing presets.

General Support / SQL errors in 1.2.2 ?
August 16, 2012, 02:56:24 PM
Hi,

Server Platform: Windows Server 2008 R2 standard (64bit)
NetXMS Server: netxms-1.2.2-x64

Since upgrading to 1.2.2 I'm having intermittent problems viewing graphs of DCI values and getting DCI collection failures in the client. In the server system log I get a number of entries when the DCI collection fails:

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): constraint failed

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): constraint failed

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): column event_id is not unique

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): constraint failed

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): column event_id is not unique

SQL query failed (Query = "INSERT INTO event_log (event_id,event_code,event_timestamp,event_source,event_severity,event_message,root_event_id,user_tag) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"): constraint failed

I then restart NetXMS Core and its ok again for a while before failing again with the same problem.

Any pointers on where I should be looking would a great help.

General Support / Cannot figure web site monitor
May 10, 2012, 11:32:40 AM
Hi,

I'm struggling with trying to monitor web sites and hope someone can point out how thick I am in a constructive manner !

An example configuration:

  Node "www.infoshop.co.uk"
   Polling: access to NextXMS agent disabled, usage of SNMP for all polls disabled
   Service "Web Site"
     Service type: http, tcp/udp port: 80
     Request: www.infoshop.co.uk
     Expected response: ^HTTP/1\.[01] 200.*

The results of a status poll are:
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Sending poll request to server...
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Poll request accepted
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Starting status poll for node www.infoshop.co.uk
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]    Starting status poll on interface lan0
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Current interface status is NORMAL
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Starting ICMP ping
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Interface is NORMAL for 13 polls (1 poll required for status change)
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Interface status after poll is NORMAL
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]    Finished status poll on interface lan0
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]    Starting status poll on network service Web site
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Current service status is Unknown
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Polling service from node FS01.bustednetworks.com [192.168.0.31]
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]       Unable to check service status due to agent or communication error
[10-May-2012 09:27:10]    Finished status poll on network service Web site
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] iNode is connected
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Finished status poll for node www.infoshop.co.uk
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Node status after poll is NORMAL
[10-May-2012 09:27:10] Poll completed successfully

All I ever get is "Unable to check service status due to agent or communication error". I have checked browsing to the monitored web site from the NetXMS server, that works fine. I have no idea how to test what actual response I should get from the web server, any help / suggested tools would be appreciated.

General Support / UPS monitoring and shutdown
March 10, 2012, 11:47:39 AM
Hi,

I've been looking at monitoring UPS' with NetXMS but currently can only get it to work by disabling the monitoring / shutdown software on the server. The example I'm looking at is a Dell PowerEdge server with an APC Smart-UPS 1500 connected to the server via COM1 and using Microsoft's inbuilt UPS monitoring software.

I'm guessing I cannot use NetXMS AND some other software because the COM port gets locked by the monitoring software, but if that is the case how do other people get around this ? It is of prime importance to us to have the server shutdown automatically by the monitoring software and it seems to me to be prudent to have such monitoring very local to the server rather than remote as who knows what intervening kit might fail in a power outage ?

Any guidance on this would be most welcome.

David

General Support / Upgrade procedure
February 15, 2012, 02:36:27 PM
Hi,

What is the correct procedure to upgrade 1.0.13 (embedded SQL Lite) to 1.1.10 on Windows 2008 R2 ?

I have tried and end up with all sorts of SQL errors.

General Support / Inter-dependent status
October 25, 2011, 01:33:35 PM
Dear all,

I'm not sure how to create alarms that are conditional on multiple object status' and would be grateful if someone can point me on the right path.

The NetXMS server is sat on a server on one network connected to the Internet by connection A, most of the managed node are on separate remote networks that are themselves connected to the Internet by connections B, C, D etc..

Currently I have alarms generated on NODE_DOWN that email me an alert, however I do not want this email alert if the server connection (A) is down, i.e. the alarm (or alert) should only be asserted if the remote node goes down but connection A is up, or put another way if connection A is down do not generat any alarms for remote nodes.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

I have many nodes which in practice are router / firewall / NAT devices, Draytek 2600, 2800 and 2820 models.
I monitor them with SNMP and a service monitor to check the management interface is alive, the service monitor being configured like this:

service type: user-defined
IP Protocol: TCP
TCP/UDP port: 50089
Request:
Response

Up to and including 1.0.10 this worked but with 1.0.11 it no longer does, the SNMP stuff still works fine but a status poll of the node returns "Unable to check service status due to agent or communication error" when checking the servce. Can anyone enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong ?

Thanks,

General Support / Graphs on perfomance tab gone
December 09, 2010, 03:48:40 PM
Monitored node: Windows 2003 running netxms agent 1.0.8
Monitoring console and server vesion 1.0.8

In the NextXMS management console, on the performance tab for the above node, there is only one graph displayed (physical memory) whereas the default view includes CPU Utilization, CPU Load Average and Disk Queue. I have tried deleting the node and setting up again but still only get one graph. What controls the display of these graphs and any ideas how I can get the missing graphs ?

General Support / Console stops responding
October 13, 2010, 01:17:35 PM
Hi,

Host OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Pro
NetXMS Console: Version 1.0.5

I've had this on the previous versions, the NetXMS Console frequently stops responding when acknowledging or teminating alarms in the object browse.

David

 It would be useful if the container tree hierarchy structure visible in the object browser was maintained in the window view presented when moving a node. A hierarchy of containers is a very useful network view, customers, sites etc.

Hi,

We are trying to monitor a number of networks all behind separate NAT layers.
Many of the private LAN addresses are duplicated.
NetXMS does not appear to allow duplicate addresses even though they private addresses proxied by unique public addresses, is there anyway around this ?

David

General Support / Cannot get proxy working
May 20, 2010, 01:10:22 PM
** newbie alert **

I cannot seem to get proxying to work, I have a node (a) behind NAT that is working fine via a redirected public address and a second node (b) on the same LAN as (a) that I want to monitor. Node (b) is configured at the master server to communicate via proxy node (a), both nodes are listed in the opposites 'trusted node list', node (b) has a primary address of 192.168.1.32

The configuration files of the respective agents are:

Node (a) config file:

#
# NetXMS agent configuration file
# Created by agent installer at Thu Apr 01 12:39:33 2010
#

MasterServers = master.public.com
LogFile = {syslog}
FileStore = D:\admin\NetXMS\var
SubAgent = ping.nsm
SubAgent = logwatch.nsm
SubAgent = portcheck.nsm
SubAgent = winperf.nsm
SubAgent = wmi.nsm
EnabledCiphers = 15
RequireAuthentication = yes
SharedSecret = secret
EnableProxy = yes
EnableSNMPProxy = yes

Node (b) config file:

#
# NetXMS agent configuration file
# Created by agent installer at Thu Apr 01 12:41:14 2010
#

MasterServers = master.public.com
Servers = 192.168.1.31
LogFile = {syslog}
FileStore = C:\apps\NetXMS\var
SubAgent = ping.nsm
SubAgent = logwatch.nsm
SubAgent = portcheck.nsm
SubAgent = winperf.nsm
SubAgent = wmi.nsm
EnabledCiphers = 15
RequireAuthentication = no
SharedSecret = secret

Any help as to what I'm doing wrong would be much appreciated.
