Jeff,

I'm also running postgres, although on debian stable 9.1

Only difference from my config versus yours are the following;

netxms.conf
host: 127.0.0.1
driver: libnxddr_pgsql.so

pg_hba
- #local   all             all                                     peer
+ local   all             all                                     peer

Victor, please update the postgresql package so that it does NOT depend on postgresql 8.4

Most of us are running 9.1 and newer. For every update I need to extract the package and remove/update the package dependency (DEBIAN/control).

Thanks

Hi

I know this has been discussed before without any progress, so I'm raising the issue again.

Today's Object Tools has tons of potential, but in a diverse environment it generates noise as every entry is shown on _all_ monitored hosts.

Would it be possible to have some sort of filter or selecting the hosts that qualify for a new entry?

I've done some digging and found out that I can indeed install the extra LSI addons on esxi that are needed to do queries using ssh.

So I'll be making some parsing scripts and getting the data plotted in netxms. I plan to do the same for VMware montoring using VMwares own perl kit. There are plenty of nagios examples online and I expect no problems in engineering this for netxms.

General Support / Annoying pppX adapters
February 12, 2014, 04:30:02 PM
Hi

I'm using netxms to monitor our fw. However when someone uses vpn, a new ppp adapter appears. This causes a notification in netxms which is fine. However when I try to <IGNORE> the adapter, it respawns with the next vpn user and another notification is shown. It seems that PPP1 one day is not the same PPP1 the next day.

Any tips on how to ignore these adapters are welcome. I'd like to keep the functionality of a notification when a new adapter appears, but ignore the ppp adapters on the fw.

Hi

I need to monitor raids on two raid-controllers, and get notifications if a hard-drive fails.

How can I use netxms to accomplish this?

If it matters, the servers in question are VMware esxi hosts, and the controllers are LSI SAS controllers. The servers also have ipmi, which might present options.

General Support / Re: mobile client outside private lan

A follow up for others who face the same problem. I used rinetd to bind port 4701 from dmz to the internal netxms server.

Works like a charm.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all the answers. I'll try out the experimental proxy first, and NAT as a last resort.

Hi

I'd rather not put the netxms server in DMZ for security reasons, but I would love to use the mobile client outside our private network.

Any input on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Netxms is a fantastic piece of software, it still lacks some bells and whistles on the GUI. Especially for new users. This is just one example that confuse users. The minute you start doubting feedback from your users, you'll start loosing users.

The delete reference could just as easily be "delete nodes reference to this template". Just doesn't make sense. It also does not make sense why one should be able to delete a node physically from the template view...

its not intuitive ...

For example, if I want to remove a group in active directory - I don't expect to be asked which persons I want to remove after right clicking and selecting "remove" on the group itself. Makes very little sense.

Ah, I see. But from a users perspective I avoided clicking "Remove" as it would mean removing the template itself. It really needs to be updated to "remove node(s)" or something similar.

Thanks for your help.

No rush on my part. I'll wait until you have the pacakges ready Victor. Thanks.

Right clicking the template did not reveal any "unbind" selections. Unmanage was the closest, and that's not a valid choice for a template.

The way I approached it, was to investigate template properties hoping I could remove the bindings from there. Also tried to right click a node under a template for anything like "unbind from template". Even tried removing the node (delete) but that obviously removed the node entirely from netxms.
