So in the event log, you will see the latest alarm text and severity will be increased or decreased according to last alarm, right?

That's what we call "flexibility"  :)

General Support / NetXMS agent - Performance tab
May 12, 2009, 11:13:45 AM
Hi,

Some questions about the NetXMS agent - performance tab

When using agent 0.2.19 the CPU utilization was graded from 0..100. Now it is from 0..1? What's the reason?
It would be clean to add the units of the Y axis on CPU utilization, CPU Average load and Disk queue... Those metrics can be measured differently and display many things differently...

Then, are there other metrics a NetXMS Agent can collect (not via SNMP)?
Is there a way to add them on this tab?

Suggestion: have such a performance tab for SNMP agent as well + possibility for user to add his metrics (standard or home-made) so important metrics graphics are quickly available...

General Support / Re: Delete Map
May 12, 2009, 10:37:22 AM
Is this point solved?
I'm running 0.2.26 and I still got the message "Cannot Delete Map: invalid Map ID". closing the "Network Map" window and reopening it shows that map is deleted!

By the way, any created network map comes with only one node! Even if you select "Entire Network" as root...
Did I do something wrong there?

Thanks for your support.

Don't know how complex or feasible it is but here is the idea...

Today you can either "terminate alarm" by giving the message key OR "Generate new alarm". Indeed, as you say you can probably do it by defining two rules one to "terminate alarm" and a second one to "Generate new alarm". But what if you could do both in a simple rule? A rule could be defined to "terminate alarm" AND "generate new alarm".

This can be useful if you enter an escalation scenario... First alarm is "warning" then "major", following "critical"... at each step you don't need the previous alarm... and finally the clearing event which will "terminate alarm" only. But for previous step, you when to "terminate alarm" and display the new alarm...

Imagine how many rules you may get if you have many such scenarios? Allowing generation and termination in on rule would divide this number by two for those at least...

By the way, is there no way to define "terminate alarm" while keeping the message in the event list?
So having access to both "terminate alarms" and "Generate new alarm" sections?

Hi,

In user manual, last page lists all macros available for building key and message in event processing.
Is there a way to do some regexp in the field where we define the pattern for terminating several alarms?

A kind of EVENT_ERROR_(.*) or event EVENT_[ERROR|WARNING]_%i etc.

Best regards,

General Support / Web GUI - "Admin" panel issue
June 29, 2007, 11:31:18 AM
Hi guys,

In the Web Interface, whatever the user used to login, selecting the "Admin" panel causes the "nxhttpd" server to crash.
Could you, please, let me know if this is a known bug? Or if I did something wrong...

Thanks for your support,
Cheers,

Hi guys,

I'm currently using 0.2.17 (Linux bones 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5 #1 Sat Oct 14 16:59:26 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux) and try to create a user in the Remote GUI (Windows).
The problem is the following. I looks like the created user is not saved if I stop the server (kill -TERM <PID)! This means - deduction - that if for any reason your server stops running or netxmsd process crashes, your configuration is lost... And this can represent quite some work!

Could you, please, correct me if I'm wrong or implement a kind of "save server config" in the GUI menu or automatically save any configuration item as the server (DEBUG mode) seems to receive the information in near real-time?

Thanks for your suport,
Regards,

General / ID incremental
June 22, 2007, 05:45:18 PM
Hi,

Minor remark...

When you define - for example - a new trap or event, if you then delete it, the corresponding ID looks to be unavailable. The next event created will have the next ID.
Is this the expected behavior? It looks to me like you are going to consume more IDs than expected?

General / Performances graphing & time scale
June 22, 2007, 05:42:11 PM
Hi,

When your server is running in GMT for example and your are running remotely your console, it looks like the time the console is reconsidering is its local time. Hence, if local time is not GMT, you don't see the graphs in "Performances" panel unless you set local time to the server time. Is this the expected behaviour? I would have expected the console to consider the server as the time reference for the graphing as the server is the collection point.

What if time on server and agent have a different reference? Or better say, an offset?

Similar for the "graph" option in the drop down menu for each node.

Cheers,
JDamien
