About network services

New idea about network services.

I can implement new object class - Network Service (or application?),
related to node object. In the properties, NetworkService object will
have service type (SMTP, POP3, SSH, etc.) and port number. Server will
use checkService subagents to regulary check service state and update
object's status accordingly. Appropriate events will be generated when
service will go down and up. Is it better than configuring data
collection items and thresholds? Any other comments?
