If I understand you correctly, you cannot connect to the server with the
console application, not from the agent, right? To ensure that we
understand each other correctly, I'll briefly describe all components of
the system:
1. Server - the core part of the system, doing most of the job. Started
on server by netxmsd command.
2. Agent - piece of software used to gather various information from
monitored nodes. Started by nxagentd command. Highly recommended to be
run on management server.
3. Console (or client) - Windows application used for configuring system
and getting results.
In your case, I can suppose two possible problems:
1. You server start and then terminates immediatelly due to unknown
reason (incorrect configuration file, database problem, etc.).
2. You have firewall between you workstation and your server, which
blocks the connection.
3. You entered invalid hostname or IP address in "Server" field in login
dialog, or your DNS is not working correctly.
Can you please provide me the following information, so I can determine
the actual problem:
1. Configuration files of your server and agent (/etc/netxmsd.conf and
/etc/nxagentd.conf)
2. Server's log file
3. Output of "ps fax" command after server startup
4. Output of "netstat -atn" command after server startup

Hi,
I have installed Netxms in one of our server(Linux).I have followed
the steps given in the documentation and configured it.After
configuration i have started the agent first and then server.I have even
checked the log files but don't find an error in the log file.
But when iam trying to connect from agent to the server it is saying
error:unable to connect:communication failure
Is there anything need to be configured on agent side in order to
communicate with server.
can you please helpme out in this issue and guide me where iam going
wrong.
