Hello!
If I understand you correctly, there are 3 more or less separate things:
1 - desktop configurations - how views (graphs, alarm browser, maps) are
placed on user desktop;
2 - network maps - graphical representation of your network - either as
a whole or only a part of it;
3 - user rights - what the user can do with the objects, what objects he
is able to see, etc.
With user rights (#3) everything is ok - you can organize users into
groups, give them various rights to nodes, subnets, containers, etc. If
you need additional information about access control, just ask me, and
I'll explain it in details.
Desktop configurations is a bit more problematic, but you have the
ability to create desktop configuration and then copy it to different
users (via "Desktop -> Manage" menu in console). Maybe it's not very
flexible though.
Network maps is in worst condition. Currently you can have only one
"default" map, which represents your entire network. All users can see
this map, but if user doesn't have rights to specific objects, it will
not see these objects on map. We will improve network maps in future
releases - you will have the ability to create different maps which will
represent part of you network or service dependency, give rights for
that maps to different users and specify different default maps for
different users or groups.
As a conclusion: our goal is to build a powerful and easy to use
enterprise network management system, so we are always open for new
ideas, especially if they based on real world network management
experience and requirements. So feel free to share your ideas with us,
it can help to improve the system and make it more useful.
Best regards,
Victor
