Hi,

i need drivers for the 3com switchs series 5500,4500.
a generic driver can be good too as long as will be able to populate all "peer-ip" and ect. columns

Regards,
Lindeamon

Victor Kirhenshtein

Hi,

actually, peer information should be populated even with generic driver as long as there is support for standard bridge MIB and possibly LLDP or CDP. Please note that peer IP will only appear if it is known IP address of one of the nodes - so if you for example do not enter workstations into NetXMS you won't get their IPs on switch ports.

Victor

hi victor,

i will do another check and will see if a generic driver is assigned

Hi Victor,

did the check and all i can see is switches peer info and not computers although invoking "find switch port" on some nodes produced an "indirectly..." answer.
can you shed some light on the subject ? can you explain what needs to be configure in order for this to work ? do i have to configure anmp on the computers too?
my switches are using h3c,procurve,dell-pwc drivers.

Hi,

system will show "indirect" if more than one MAC address is seen on switch port - in this case server assumes that more than one computer is connected via some unmanaged switch. This often could happen if you have computers connected via IP phones.

Victor

Hi Victor,

thank you for your time and explanation.
what about nodes connected directly to the managed switch ? why don't i see them ?
again, what do i have to configure both on the switch and the computer for it to show on the switch's peer list ?

Hi,

I have to get more specific information to investigate it further. Can you please provide MAC address of a computer which is not shown as connected to the switch and result of Topology -> Switch forwarding database command on the switch?

Best regards,
Victor

lindeamon

hi victor,

i will try to provide you with one asap.

Hi victor,

i have attached the files you requested.
you can see in the xlsx file that there is only 1 port that is different from the rest and even it does not show up as a peer.
hope you can help me...

What you get if you run Tools -> Find MAC address on MAC address 00:19:D1:80:EC:DB?

Hi victor,

i get : node <xxx> is directly connected to network switch <xxx> port Enthernet1/0/21

Hi,

in 2.0-M3 I fixed a bug that prevents setting of peer node information on port under certain condition, so that may be your case to. It is fixed in 2.0-M3 released today. You can try to install it on test system and see if problem will be gone.

Best regards,
Victor

Hi Victor,

thank you. i will o the installation and test it.

Hi Victor,

something is not making sense to me.
when i choose to see the "layer2 topology" of a switch i can see all the connected workstations so you did fix the problem, but...
when i try to find a switchport of a node, still i get "indirectly connected...". now, i will do some more tests but can you check it again ?

Best Regards,
Lindeamon
