Title: network discovery
Post by: lindeamon on April 18, 2012, 10:08:57 PM
hi,
i have installed netxms on a computer with ip 10.33.9.5 and i wanted it to discover computers on other subnets 10.61.1-5.0/24
i have configured the network discovery to discover using active and passive and on the active networks to find i configured the above mentioned 5 subnets.i have to say that i can reach those subnets only by ping with no snmp ability to any node and all i want to monitor is alive/not alive.
did i configured it correctly ? when i configure specific network on active discovery, does that mean that it will try to ping all the addresses on the given subnet and add what it finds or it will try and find those subnets only if it finds them in the arp and route database?

Hi!

Active discovery means that system will ping each address in given subnet(s) and add each which responds (if node passes discovery filters).

Best regards,
Victor
