Title: Resolved!! No Alarms or Alert when node down (new install, please help!)
Post by: cjalaff on January 31, 2009, 01:25:00 AM
I just installed a second NETXMS server on the network to monitor a separate sub net. (The first one was already in place when I arrived)
I followed the install document and read over the user manual but I can't figure this out:

I added one test node to the same sub net as the server itself (and added it to the system agent template) and it comes up fine (shows the workstation and the NIC) however; when I unplug the network cable to test the alerts, it doesn't show up under the alarms tab like it should. I do see the "red light" next to the node indicating the critical severity, but it doesn't show up under the alarm tab, and this may be why the notification is not working.

To test this theory, I added the same node to the old netxms server and unplugged the node from the network. As expected, the "red light" next to the node turned red, and the "Alarm" tab showed the alarm. And of course I got the alert (Via email).

I have compared the 2 servers side by side and the main difference is the old server id netxms ver 2.20 and the new is 2.24

What did I miss?

Resolved!!  I discovered that after you create the rules you must apply and then enable the rules.   That was the problem.
