Title: SATA drive data collection
Post by: firemandave221 on June 04, 2010, 05:35:59 PM
I have started testing this software and have been happy with it so far.  My question is the Data Collection items relating to hard disk drives.  I have several servers, most it SATA hard drives and a few with IDE drives.  The arguments PhysicalDisk.Temperature(0) works fine on the IDE drives, but does not funcition on the SATA drives.  I checked in Windows Disk Management for the appropriate disk number, and it states Disk 0.

Is there something that I am missing while trying to collect data from a SATA drive?

Thank you for your help!

Dave

Unfortunately, all physical disk statistic functionality is quite outdated and often not working with modern hardware. It need to be rewritten, but unless someone will volunteer to do it, it will not happen in near future.

As a workaround, you can try to use smartmontools and call smartctl via agent's external parameter.

Best regards,
Victor
