Hi
I am running 2.0-RC1 in Windows7, mysql Database (vm in ESX server). As my dhcp server is providing different ip addresses to already detected devices (always in the same subnet) i am getting duplicated objects in both "Entire Network" section and Infrastructure section. Most of the objects did not support snmp, but shouldn't netxms detect mac addresses are the same and change the existing object instead of duplicate it?

A similar situation happened with the Windows7 i am running netxms server, i manually changed the ip address  of the server and this resulted in having also a duplicated object, as this is the server i expected it to detect the ip change and not duplicate the object (no netxms agent is installed in the server though)

Any idea/suggestion to avoid having to remove/update duplicated objects? I know that extending lease time or making it forever would solve the problem, but in anycase i have to change  manually ip addresses from time to time and i would like to avoid manually fixing objects.

Thanks!

Hi,

you mean you getting two nodes - one with old IP and one with new IP? Server is supposed to detect IP change by MAC address, but if node does not support SNMP server can rely only on switch forwarding databases. Does server has access to switches where all those nodes are connected? Are MAC addresses correctly detected for non-SNMP nodes?

Best regards,
Victor

Yes,  i am getting two or more nodes, one with the old ip and one with the new ip (for non snmp devices). Mac address is the same on both nodes and is correct. One of the devices is an ipad, for example, other is my macbook pro or a hp printer. If I change the dhcp address range on the dhcp server once new addresses are distributed i start to get duplicated objects

The server has access via snmp to both  the main switch (Dell6248) and the Access point (linksys). the server is running on a virtual machine on a  ESX host which is directly connected to the Dell Switch
