General Support / Export database 1.2.17
October 30, 2014, 02:20:57 AM
Hi

I upgraded to 1.2.17 and the database went with it fine too, no issues. Everything works fine, though, I am now wanting to export the database and get the following message when trying to do so via nxdbmgr:

ERROR: Schema version mismatch between dbschema_sqlite.sql and your database. Pl
ease check that NetXMS server installed correctly.
Database export failed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

General Support / Layer 2 Mapping
July 29, 2014, 08:58:25 PM
Hi

In 1.2.15, it appears that Layer 2 mapping has been broken. Most of the time, nodes appear, though they aren't connected with any lines, only a few are.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks

Thanks Victor!

Hi Victor

I noticed that when this issue seems to rear its head, all messages appear to be cached in RAM. Things can be fine for quite a while, but as soon as the process takes so much RAM that the server cannot operate as it should, it causes crashes

Thanks

Hi!

Similar problem was reported on Russian forum as well. It seems that NetXMS syslog server cannot write incoming messages to database fast enough. I'll try to do load test in my lab and hopefully fix that.

Best regards,
Victor

Hi Victor,

Just another bit for you to know here... I migrated away from SQL Server and went to MySQL. I get the same issue with this too.

Thanks

General Support / Syslog times
February 19, 2014, 11:23:55 AM
Hi

I'm seeing something a little strange at the moment.

Let's say that I've just started the server process and check the syslogs that have been captured, they all look fine and the timestamps are 100% right. Now, give this a few days and the syslogs start showing completely different times. It's almost like there is a cache of logs that are being released into the database slower. Obviously, the timestamp in the syslog message itself is correct, as I've verified this on all the devices I've seen this for. This does only seem to happen for devices that have a large volume of messages towards NetXMS.

I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean.

BTW, the 8:59AM in the screenshot was correct, the latest logs I had in there at that time, though it shows logs from yesterday evening.

Any help would be appreciated, it seems that the only resolve for this right now is to periodically restart the server process.

Thanks

General Support / 1.2.10 Install (sqllite)
January 08, 2014, 01:36:20 AM
Hi all

Just a quick note for anyone having issues installing 1.2.10 with sqllite on Windows, it seems that the database is in the wrong directory once the install wizard completes.

For example:
Simply copy netxms_db from c:\netxms\bin\ to c:\netxms\database\ and the service will start.

Not sure if this affects all Windows versions, but it certainly does on x86.

Thanks

General Support / Re: Subnet Deleted - Flooding Events
December 21, 2013, 08:02:08 PM
Thanks for coming back to me so fast Victor.

It is causing an issue with alerts at the moment in a big way, however, I'd rather wait till the end of the month for a fix in 1.2.11, rather than creating work for you.

The strange thing with this is that is does seem to stop processing all other events. Thinking back, it may have been an issue when I deleted a host not that long after installing and then it just spams the event monitor with that message. There are probably upwards of 4000 nodes that is has detected, so this may have just pushed it over the edge.

Have a great Christmas and I look forward to the new version!

General Support / Subnet Deleted - Flooding Events
December 20, 2013, 11:54:55 AM
Hi

Since installing 1.2.10, events haven't worked properly. The event log is constantly hit with:

20.12.2013 09:31:44   <unknown>   Normal   SYS_SUBNET_DELETED   Subnet deleted

This generally leaves the current timestamp shown in the event log as being 20 minutes or so behind the current time, as it must be processing so much. It also makes sense, as alerts from hosts being down, etc. are taking forever to process, if at all.

This happened in an upgraded database and then when other issues came to light, I started from scratch, so this is in a new database, fresh install.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Victor,

Thank you.

I'd like to say that although I've posted a few questions that are probably newbie questions, the responses from you have always been fast and spot on.

I believe that the issue with most queries is user education on NetXMS. From using products (that shall rename nameless) in the past, it's refreshing to use a product that can pretty much do anything.

If you need any labs equipment (mainly Cisco) for use on testing, let me know, happy to help.

If you guys can get NetFlow into this beast so you can report on it, it'll truly be the only thing I'll ever need to use for monitoring.

Thank you, again.

General Support / SNMP Traps
November 05, 2013, 03:45:17 PM
Hi all

I am trying to trap on BPDU protection on Procurve switches and the issue I am coming across is that the trap OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.79.0.2 seems to be used for a few other things, do I need to match by part of the string in the varbinds, specifically: .1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.2.839

Now, when I set this up, I get events firing for the OID only, not taking .1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.2.839 into consideration.

I am stating .1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.2.839 under the parameters under Edit SNMP Trap Mapping.

Here is an excerpt of the trap from a CSV export:

"05.11.2013 13:33:50","10.1.1.1","switch",".1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.79.0.2",".1.3.6.1.2.1.16.9.1.1.2.839 == 'I 11/05/13 13:34:25 stp: port 12 disabled for 1200 seconds - BPDU received on protected port.'"

Also, it'd be really good to be able to get the trap information, like port number passed, so I could email the event.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Thanks

General Support / Syslog Query Timeout
October 29, 2013, 06:36:24 PM
Hi

Does anyone know of a way to increase the timeout on queries?

For example, I collect quite a number of logs per day and the syslog table is quite large. Querying it, I need the timeout to be about 60 seconds, as it completes when I query the table directly, though through the GUI, it times out.

Thanks
