General Support / Re: Peer MAC learning
May 20, 2014, 01:30:11 PM
Thanks Victor.
If I had a switch that had a switch interface to many routers - in my case a supplier trunk connecting to many of our customer's routers. Should the peer node on the customer's routers see the MAC of the switchport on the core equipment at our end?  I'm only seeing for one or two devices, but not the rest (30 -40 others)

General Support / Peer MAC learning

Hello,
I have a few nodes within my network that are not showing the "Peer MAC" and other Peer details under the interfaces tab.  I was just curious as to how these details are collected.  Is it CDP (for Cisco devices - which mine are) or does the device have it's MAC address queried and then matches to a device already known in the Netxms system.  Or is it done another way?
If it's done via CDP I think I know why it's not working, but if it's not done that way, I'll need to look a bit more.
Thanks,
Luke

Hi Victor,
How can I get access to it via NXSL scripts so that I can do as you suggest.
Thanks,
Luke

I think I got this sorted out.  I found that under "entire network" I had lots of duplicates so I cleared it all out and turned of active discovery as I don't need it.
Now it's running a lot better.

Hi,
I quite often will find that my windows management console will report that it's "not responding" after I've modified a node or tried to re-poll interfaces on a node.  The console will eventually start responding again but it can take up to 5 minutes.

I've just upgraded to the latest release, but prior to this on 1.2.8 it also happened

I have about 100 nodes or thereabouts  - are there some settings that I may need to adjust or customize for this number of nodes?

When I check out the server's CPU when the console is not responding it's about 15-20%

Can anyone suggest some areas to check out to try and resolve this ?
Thanks,
Luke

Hi Victor,
Thanks for the information - that makes sense and explains what I couldn't find it.  Access to the NXSL scripts would be good.

Luke

From more investigations, I don't think it's stored in the database, but at the same time, when accessing the components tabs I'm not seeing the netxms server doing a snmpget (watching with tcpdump)

Has anyone got any ideas?
please?

General Support / Components tab

Hi,
I was hoping that someone might be able to help me.  My plan is to take the information in the "components" tab which is accessed vi Object details and copy it into the comments field for that node.  The overall goal is to have a snapshot of what the device was including serial numbers and additional cards etc when it was first "seen" by NetXMS.  I guess I'm trying to make NetXMS like an asset register as well.

My problem is that I can't find in the database where the information in the "components" tab about the node is stored - or is it a snmpget which is done when you access the components tab perhaps?

If anyone knows where the data is stored (Serial number, model, vendor etc) that would be great, or if you have a better idea on reaching the goal I'm trying to achieve that would be good too.
Thanks,
Luke

General Support / New interfaces
December 17, 2013, 05:11:59 AM
Hello,
We have a number of Cisco routers that will often have new interfaces added (daily) - is there a way for Netxms to poll the equipment for newly added interfaces?
I've tried doing this via the "Data Collection Configuration" on each  bit of equipment, but I'm not getting any new interfaces appearing.

I have the above collection setup as:

Description - ifTable
Data
- Parameter:  .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2
- Origin: SNMP
- Data Type: Integer

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Luke
