General Support / Re: NetXMS Agent - System Uptime
August 20, 2012, 08:10:42 PM
I think I may have found my own answer.  Should have done a search on the topic before posting.  My bad.

General Support / NetXMS Agent - System Uptime
August 20, 2012, 07:38:52 PM
The data collection for System Uptime defaults to 'Unassigned Integer'.  Is it possible to use the Transformation properties and or any other method to convert the integer value to hours and minutes?

Thanks.

General Support / NetXMS 'status' parameter
August 20, 2012, 07:01:10 PM
I see the below 2 logs happening.  Just wondering what the differences are.  Assuming 'Agent not responding' could be a connection problem and 'Device is down' could be a server crash?  Is it possible to have an 'Agent not responding' message even though the server has crashed and that one would never get the server is down message under this condition?  If that is the case would one receive the message 'Node is up' before 'Connectivity with native agent restored' message would appear.  If you did not get the message reply in this order then chances are the server not crashed.  Both responses get the same integer level of 4.

20-Aug-2012 10:41:11 Warning device 07 (56) Native agent is not responding

19-Aug-2012 12:11:35 Critical device 02 (51) Node down

Hope this makes sense.  Thanks.

General Support / Linux vs Windows Server install
July 10, 2012, 12:19:54 AM
If you had a choice as to whether to install the server version of NetXMS V1.2.1 on Windows or Linux OS which would you choose?  Does one OS version run better than the other?  Are there less configuration issues with one than the other?

Thanks.

General Support / Mac OS - NetXMS Console
February 16, 2012, 09:18:32 PM
Just wondering if NetXMS Console can be installed on Mac OS 10.  We are running the stable release of 1.0.13 for all.  I did noticeon the website a version available for the Mac, V1.1.10 but when we run it I see nothing. When I run the widows version on the PC I receive the login (setup) page and after entering all the information I receive the error message suggesting that Server version is incorrect.  Thoughts.  Tony M.

Feature Requests / Auto Updating graph
September 09, 2011, 07:02:02 PM
It would be of interest that when you delete a node / agent from the monitoring list that the associated graphs are updated as well.  All nodes deleted are still listed (as if they are still being monitored) within each graph that it was associated with.  A manual intervention is required to keep the graphs up-to-date.

May be I am not doing something correctly.  To delete a node from the list I selected the node - Select delete.

General Support / Re: Monitoring Ports

Thanks for the answer Victor.  One more question if I may.

If I monitored all 65 ports is there an expression that would allow one to be able to suggest that if more than 'X' number of ports are down (not communicating) that a threshold could be triggered to send an email.

Victor thanks for the reply.

I changed to NumberOfDatabaseWriters to 2 threads.  Do I need to restart the NetXMS Core service?

As to monitoring the database writer's queue size I only see 2 options under the DCI collection (System I/O DiscQueueLength and System I/O BusyTime) under Windows.  The value I see with System I/O DiscQueueLength is 8.000.  With Average Disc Busy Time has peaks at 765.000. But under the Linux OS I do see additional System I/O options.

Hope this makes sense in how I have written this.

Thanks again for the support

General Support / Data Collection delay
August 15, 2011, 08:02:47 PM
This is more of a general question.

When monitoring a Node - DCI Values I notice that the CPU Usage (for example) is monitoring values with timestamps that are close to real-time.  When I look at the same CPU Usage example through Data Collections I noticed the timestamps are behind by 2 minutes.  I thought at one point we were closer to real-time for Data Collection monitoring which ultimately drives the graph display.

What should the delay be?  Is it adjustable?

General Support / Stopped Monitoring
August 15, 2011, 07:33:04 PM
This morning I came in and the graphs had stoped graphing.  In looking closer I noticed all data collections had stop at around the same time.  This was for all newtorks, internal and external.  What was odd was the polling update notification was still present.  In going to the server the MYSQL and NEXTXMS core services were running.  I tried to restart the database and core services to see if this would help.  The MYSQL database rstarted with no issue but the NETXMS core did not want to restart.  I ended up restarting the server and all came back to life.

Server is running Windows 2008 R2,  MYSQL 5.5,  NetXMS 1.0.11.

Comments appreciated.

General Support / Monitoring Ports
August 12, 2011, 08:13:15 PM
Just wondering if it is possible to monitor whether a port is open / active or closed.  We have computer blades running software that communicate on various ports.  Each computer may have 65 ports that it communicate on.  It would be of interest to monitor each of the ports whether they are active / open or closed.

Comments would be appreciated.

Victor you are the person of the hour.

The key that opened the firewall door was adding a local port (4701) for netxmsd.exe .

Thank you so much.
