General Support / NETXMS Password Recovery
June 24, 2020, 06:21:45 AM
Hello NETXMS Team

1) I returned here since 2017 as I need netxms again for a new project. I restored my NETXMS-VM to check DCIs and other config, but I cannot login with admin user with management console or web gui trying multiple known passwords.

2) I want to know if there's a way for password recovery as I need to check my 2017's config so I avoid to start all over again with learn DCI's config and other things:

netxmsd -v
NetXMS Server Version 2.1-M3 Build 9008 (2.1-M3-1-gbc6f56c) (UNICODE)
NXCP: 4.48.1.8 (AES-256, Blowfish-256, 3DES, AES-128, Blowfish-128)
Built with: g++ (Debian 4.9.2-10) 4.9.2

General Support / Multiple DCI Issues (Again)
February 13, 2017, 05:13:02 PM
Hello, I have NetXMS v2.0.8 on Debian 8 (x64), and I still  have multiple issues with DCI values on different nodes:

1) DCI data values lost  from Jan14th to Jan25th suddenly (I cant explain it since I  configured the data retention for 90 days)
2) Appear several execution errors of "transformation script" values for DCIs ( even if the transformation scrip code worked fine in past days)
3) I can snmpwalk and ping them from NetXMS VM (for discard any connectivity issue)
4) I upgraded the ESXi from my machines to 6.0U2, and NetXMS also to 2.0.8, but this behavior persisted also on the past versions

The same behavior appear on two different NetXMS VMs that I have.

Any idea of this behavior??  I just set up debug level9 (To share you in a while  and could find any clues about)

Regards.

General Support / Multiple DCIs Missing
November 23, 2016, 12:28:20 AM
Hello, today checking my 2 NetXMS servers , I find that multiple DCIs stop to work, be discovered, appear without recent values, etc, even if the nodes are reachable.

Here are the performance graphs from both servers:

The same behavior appear from time to time , but I did nothing and later the DCIs and data appear again.

Is there a way to solve this issue for good ??

Hello, I realize that, for get the complete overview->general node info (including the boot time), is necessary to perform at least 2 configuration (full) polls, otherwise, boot time not appear.

Hello, I want to know why some deleted Instanced DCIs appear again after netxmsd service or OS restart.  I tried the following procedure, but not always work:

1) Run nxdbmgr unlock
2) Delete  the base instance DCIs: If I close the DCI table Configuration they dont appear (only at this time)
3) Restart the netxmsd service: In the past I restarted the whole OS but I found that the issue can be replicated only restaring the netxmsd service.

At this point and repeating the above steps several times, I could get the DCIs deletion. Also, at times the base DCI is effectively deleted, but the discovered DCIs remained ad I had to delete them one-by-one.

This issue could be a bug??, or maybe am I deleting the instanced DCIs in the wrong way??

Hello, how can I clear collected DCI Data for free db and hd space??. I tried deleting DCIs ( and even entire nodes with their DCIs ), but hd space dont decrease.

Hello NetXMS community, I kindly ask your help or advice , about understand the Reports Creation for NetXMS with Jasper.

Here are the stages that I've done up to this day:

1) With Alex help (via telegram), I followed the steps to achieve loading the reporting server and alarms/events example reports (mostly based on this: https://www.netxms.org/forum/installation/reporting-server-4315/)

2) Then, as in JasperSoft Studio I cannot understand at first sight the reports structure for NetXMS (by importing and inspecting the alarms/events example reports), I decided to start small by exporting the data from one DCI in CSV and then loading it in JasperSoft Studio, and I achieved loading the CSV data in a blank report:

3) I tried to do the same thing with Table and Charts, but JasperSoft Studio dont present me the data as expected.

I dont know if this is the right path to learn from scratch on how to design Jasper Reports for NetXMS, so I want to understand, because is pretty frustrating go all this way to learn NetXMS setup, data collection and get it working , only to end up stuck in the Report Creation Phase:

1) ¿¿How is the best path or training for learn JasperSoft Studio (aimed to design reports for NetXMS)??: Because I have search in the web almost all tutorials and I only achieve the described stages, or at least to know how did you learn JasperSoft Report Creation ?? (If its possible for me to follow the same path for start learning by myself).

2) ¿¿How can I connect or understand the NetXMS data structures link with the JasperSoft fields necessary to create the reports??, if there is no db direct connection or queries, and we rely only in the NetXMS Data Dictionary. As far as I understood the Reports Creation, the Report should be compiled first in Jasper and then bring to the NetXMS server to run.

General Support / Check NETXMS Upgrade in Debian
June 10, 2016, 01:30:03 AM
Hello, I just find that the new version 2.0.4 was released, and following the adm guide for my system Debian (https://www.netxms.org/documentation/adminguide/upgrade.html), I apply the apt update and upgrade. However , ¿ how could I check that the new version was installed correctly after the upgrade??

Also, I'm bit concerned about the outcome of the upgrade process, since I've read some threads where appear db and other issues. Up this moment, my upgrade process dont finish yet, but I want to be sure that it end successful.

Hello, ¿¿ is there a way to discover instances from OIDs with more than one index??

Hello NETXMS team, I continue working with NETXMS and it start give me the required SNMP monitoring that I was looking for. Thanks you for this tool.

However I just find out that, for two nodes, even if I leave all their DCI activated, after a reboot of the Debian8 (where I installled NETXMS), their DCIs appear as "disabled" again:

1) Before Debian reboot: Their DCIs are activated (in fact, I activated again since they appeared disabled in the last reboot)

2) After Debian rebbot: The DCIs appear disabled again:

In addition , every time the OS is restarted, I have to reload the netxms service for enable access through the Management Console (on the contrary, a message "conection refused" appear). I found the netxms service status different after I restart it:

NETXMS-TEST:~$ sudo service netxmsd status
[sudo] password for admtelcisco:
â netxmsd.service - LSB: NetXMS server
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/netxmsd)
Active: active (exited) since Sun 2016-05-22 19:12:52 COT; 5min ago
  Process: 613 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/netxmsd start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
NETXMS-TEST:~$
NETXMS-TEST:~$ sudo service netxmsd restart
NETXMS-TEST:~$
NETXMS-TEST:~$ sudo service netxmsd status
â netxmsd.service - LSB: NetXMS server
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/netxmsd)
Active: active (running) since Sun 2016-05-22 19:18:21 COT; 3s ago
  Process: 1787 ExecStop=/etc/init.d/netxmsd stop (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
  Process: 1796 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/netxmsd start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
   CGroup: /system.slice/netxmsd.service
           ââ1802 /usr/bin/netxmsd -d

How those two issues could be fixed??

Hello, I just finished yesterday my issue with DCIs, when I found that the db and hdd usage of my debian system where I mounted NetXMS grow very fast in less than 1 week. When I installed the fresh debian and NetXMS, the disk spase was almost 12% (of 30GB), and yesterday, the usage was in 63% !!:

mysql> SELECT table_schema "Database Name", SUM(data_length+index_length)/1024/1024
    -> "Database Size (MB)"  FROM information_schema.TABLES GROUP BY table_schema;
+--------------------+--------------------+
| Database Name      | Database Size (MB) |
+--------------------+--------------------+
| information_schema |         0.00878906 |
| mysql              |         0.67379189 |
| netxms             |     12664.09375000 |
| performance_schema |         0.00000000 |
+--------------------+--------------------+
4 rows in set (15.80 sec)

$ df -h
Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1        29G   17G   10G  63% /

I suspect first of the DCI tables that I had in retention mode of 30 days, and I changed it to dont store in db, and also did "Clear collected data" on the DCI but the size didnt decrease. I also run nxdbmgr check and nothing, then I deleted the tables and nothing.

Is there any that I can do to free all that space taken for the db without forcing drop the db??. With this I learned that dci tables take a lot of db space and the next time I put in retention mode: not store in db.

Regards.

Hello NetXMS Support Community

I just start to work with scripts, but I cannot achieve yet the way to count the times that some value appears in a  DCI Table column: Here is the idea that I have but I cannot translate to NetXMS code:

1) From a DCI Table column, get the times that "x" value appears in that column.
2) Store the value and graph it.

Thanks.

Hello, Im starting working with scripts but I just found that the server console is present in the "Tools" menu of the management Console, but not in the Web GUI. Somebody knows why??

Also, I search and the only way that I found to execute a script in the web gui was clicking the secondary button and selecting the "execute server script".

Good Morning NetXMS Community

Im starting  with SNMP Tables, however, I have find two issues:

1) I need to create a table that has two indexes: callActiveSetupTime (TimeStamp) and callActiveIndex (Integer):

However, following the guide (https://wiki.netxms.org/wiki/Creating_SNMP_table_DCI) and using the base OID callActiveSetupTime, I dont get any data:

Could be related with this thread (https://www.netxms.org/forum/configuration/how-to-monitor-sysuptime-via-snmp/), where it seems that NetXMS not support TimeStamps/Timeticks yet ?

2) I also replicate the SNMP Table from the guide, and I obtain the values. however when I put the pointer in one value, suddenly changes to a chain named <b><span...:

Regards.

Good Evening NetXMS Support Team, I kindly ask your advice or support regarding the described issue.

Im installing NetXMS in a Debian8 system following the installation guide (https://www.netxms.org/documentation/adminguide/installation.html#installing-on-debian-or-ubuntu), however, when I want to install the Web Management Console with Tomcat7 (using the  nxmc-2.0.3.war in the folder /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps, I get in my web browser "HTTP 404 - /nxmc" error when I type "ip:8080/nxmc".

However, if i only type "ip:8080" I get the tomcat message "It works !"

Regards.
