General Support / Re: Software inventory
September 28, 2014, 11:58:43 AM
Hi!

I can also confirm this, checked 3 machines:
Machine 1:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
NetXMS Software Inventory: 54 entries
Windows Programs and Features: 97 entries

Machine 2:
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64
NetXMS Software Inventory: 63 entries
Windows Programs and Features: 82 entries

Machine 3:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (virtual machine)
NetXMS Software Inventory: 19 entries
Windows Programs and Features: 30 entries

They all run NetXMS Agent v.1.2.16 x64

For example:
The NetXMS Agent is not listed on any of the machines.
Mozilla Firefox 32.0.3 is not listed on any of the machines.

I'll be grateful if anyone could shed some light on how to fix this.

I run NetXMS in a Windows-only network with the binarys downloaded from the NetXMS website.
If you can provide an intermediate version that would be great, if not I'll just wait for the next official release.

Thank You

Hi!

I'm trying to monitor some external websites/-services by using the ServiceCheck.Custom-parameter on the NetXMS server.
But if I use DNS-names I get response code 2 "Cannot connect to target", using IP-address works fine.
DNS-names works from the server (web browser, ping etc).

Any suggestions on what maybe wrong much appreciated?

General Support / Test tools, know any good ones?
March 08, 2014, 06:59:20 PM
Don't know if this is the right forum, but here is a couple of the tools I use when testing monitoring.
(Mind that I 99.9% of the time use different flavors of Windows, so this is tools for Windows).

I often find it useful to test monitoring without touching the settings/tresholds in NetXMS, but rather putting load on the monitored systems.

CPU:
CPUSTRES.EXE
This is an old as sin (from 1999) test tool from Sysinternals. While it hardly is able stress my main PC with its i7-3930K 6-core CPU its perfect for an anemic Acer Revo 70 with an AMD E-450 or virtual machines.

Hyper PI
This is a Super PI front-end well suited for multi-core systems.

Memory:
TestLimit
Also a tool from Sysinternals, 32- and 64-bit. I call it "the RAM eater", perfect for my use, ranging from VM's with 512MB to my main PC with 32GB RAM.
f.ex testlimit64 -d -c nbrInMB, ie testlimit64 -d -c 4096
"eats" the RAM amount specified.

This is what I use, but I have still to find simple, easy to use tools for simulating disk load and network load.
Any recommendations anyone?

TIA

I haven't tried it myself, but this explanation is in the wiki

I have just made test on windows 7: console successfuly connect via ip:port defenition

Thanks for the confirmation. The server is alive and kicking, and everything works on the inside of the firewall. The Android app also works from the outside so its something on the PC, or in the network I was connected to when testing.

Thanks

General Support / Re: Changing Mangament Console port

Sorry, forgot to say that I've already tried that one, got an error saying "unable to connect" (or along those lines, don't remember verbatim).

So I thought that one didn't work.
But thank you for a quick reply. Something else creating trouble on my PC then.

General Support / Changing Mangament Console port
February 28, 2014, 03:15:46 PM
Hi!

I apologize if this has been asked and answered previously (and I'm to stupid to find it  :) )

But, how do you change the port (4701) that the Management Console uses to connect to for example 12345?

To clarify: I don't want to change the server port, just on the MC-side because of port forwarding in my firewall.
This is on Windows 8/8.1.
In the Android app there is an option to change port, so that works OK.

Thank you.

General Support / Re: "Get DCI" Errors

Victor - is it possible to have a difference, code wise, between linux and windows ? maybe a dumb question, but i am trying to figure out whether my problem is related only to linux based netxms server.

I have the same problem on Windows, NetXMS server running on Windows 8.1. I get the "write socket error" when using Managment Console and/or WebUI locally on the server and when using Management Console or WebUI from another machine.
But, it comes and goes, not sure what triggers it.
(Maybe idle time as mentioned).
